Yes, I am following the rules, I try to go to the gym 5 days a week. I work the day shift the other 2 days and have no energy after work. I do not drink with my meals, and I have been eating the 3-4 oz Protein, 1/2 cup veggies and sometimes 1/4 cup starch since I started eAting real food on monday

Hey Jess,

I dont think you should be discouraged. Everyone is different. There is a HUGE learning curve that goes with this and I think the longer you take to figure it out, the better chance you have at it becoming a life style change for GOOD. Keep up the great work and it will come off.

I am in the same boat, I have lost a total of 23 lbs and just started losing again this week (only 1/2lb but is not gaining). I asked my dr the same question and had the same concerns. He assured me that this time right after the surgery was to let your body heal, become adjusted to the change and begin figuring it all out. Once we get our fill, I think it will become clearer how much we can tolerate, what we can eat and what we cant.

I get my first fill on Tuesday, I will let you know how it goes. I am a bit nervous and dont know what to expect.

There are some great websites and diet plans online that I found just surfing around. I can give you the sites if you want.

Good luck!!

Has anyone gotten that "Stuck" feeling? I think I had it the other night and it changed my world! I never want that again. I had shoulder pain and everything. I ate a piece of roast and will never eat that again!! Pain is a great deterrent!!

Not and expert and I dunno what your doctor told you, but your stomach is only about 1/2 cup in volume (size of an egg)? That seems like a bit too much food. Are you watching calories? All my meals are about 3/4 cup in size I would say, total.

I thought that is what I was told to eat. I have an appointment at the nutritionist on Saturday, I will talk to her then. Even with that though I still have trouble getting 1200 calories in. I need at least that or else I do not lose with to low of calories.

Yea, should be 1000-1200. Maybe you are right? Hmm, just seems like a large quantity, not the amount of calories.

It sounds like your NUT is saying the same thing my NUT says regarding what to eat. When I went for my appointment last week she asked what I was eating and when I told her 3-4 oz Protein and 1/2 cup veggies she said that is exactly what I should be eating. I can also tell you that my weight loss stalled for almost 3 weeks after I went to solids...I found through trial and error that I have to eat around 1,000 calories a day to lose weight (which I wasn't during the time I was stalled) - if I eat fewer calories I stay the same or gain a bit. For example, yesterday I only had 725 calories and I exercised for 30 minutes...when I weighed this morning I was up 1/2 lb. Today I have to make sure I get in my calories no matter how crazy my schedule is!!!

That is exactly like me. When I was on mushies and purees and liquids, I was eating like maybe 600-700 cal per day and going to the gym and burning like 400 calories. That was to low and I was burning to much, so at one point I was up like 3 lbs. Once I realized my problem and got to real food and got my calories up and stuff I lost that 3 lbs plue I am down like 0.6 lbs. Not much, but better than being up. I am also about to get TOM in a couple days and I can't believe I am saying this, but I hope I am retaining Water and I am actually a little lower...LOL. But I think the weight loss will improve now that I am eating more calories. I look forward to seeing my NUT tomorrow and get her take. I think I am going to sign up for 3 more appointments, so I can continue to improve my eating.

Today, exactly one month ago i had the lapband surgery. i have been amazed at the change so far.

i have been reading the previous post and i am also up to 1/2 - 3/4 cups food. per my dr plan i can eat deli slice meat. i am enjoying that for sure. i even got to enjoy my first piece of fish yesterday. it was so delicious.

since my journey started in september with my first consultation i am down about thirty. i go back to the dr on the 7th for an official weigh in so i am just enjoying my clothes fitting different. i got on a digital scale at work and it says i am down to 267. that i am excited about.

I also experienced my first stuck episode. i do not ever want to go back to that experience ever again. i got distracted while eating one evening and did not chew properly and oh boy! chuck that to experience to remember and not go back to.

I hope everyone has a great day! and keep up the great work!:D

My book says "long term, the size of your pouch will likely be eight to twelve ounces which will allow you to tolerate 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food" So yea i guess, but it can't be that big now could it?

Hello,

Yes, I have been "stuck" and it is awful! I even vomited once. I am eating just about anything I choose but Istay totally away from doughy types of bread. Toast and the crusts of bread are fine.

I probably eat 1/2 to 1 cup of food per meal. I haven't lost any weight in a week or so. I am journaling, eating adequate Protein and exercising. I know I will continue to lose, even if it's slowly, and look forward to my fill on Feb. 4th.

TGIF! Have a great weekend!

Joan

Ok i go for my fill feb 8th and my dr is using the fluoroscope... what is it and what did he do??? I have asked other people and nobody heard of it. did you have to drink nasty stuff again?? i hope not

I log my weights on Fridays and I am little disappointed that I didn't lose any this week. I didn't gain so that's a plus but a little disappointed since I really started exercising the past 10 days or so. I have been going to Zumba 2 nights a week and 30 minutes on the gazelle 3 days a week. I just had a fill so maybe that will help, but despite no weight loss this week I feel so much better. I had been so sick with the hiatal hernia and with that repair and the 25 lbs I have lost since my first intake appt. I am feeling great. It is nice to have a little energy back.

I lost around 8 pounds in one week after my first fill and then nothing!

I noticed a big difference after the fill for about a week and now I feel no difference.

I'm being careful and watching what I eat as I feel I could eat a lot more than I should or need. I think I might be having too much liquid (protein shakes) and not enough real food too.

I am really hungry (stomach growling) within 2 hours of eating. I don't have much time in the morning and rush to work. I grab a Protein Shake on my way out and usually hungry not long after (within a hour). I will try to have a proper Breakfast this week and see if it makes a difference.

I'm hoping that the length of time between feeling hungry is less with the next fill and will last longer than a week.

I'm really happy with my weight loss- I just want MORE rolleyes.gif lol

Purpleshell try having oatmeal, it's quick to make, it always fills me up, it sticks to your insides pretty good! Or some eggs

Ok i go for my fill feb 8th and my dr is using the fluoroscope... what is it and what did he do??? I have asked other people and nobody heard of it. did you have to drink nasty stuff again?? i hope not

He put the needle in my port and filled some, then put me in front of this machine. Then I held the syringe while he went to look, then I took some sips of this white liquid stuff (it didn't taste THAT bad), then he filled more, looked etc. I guess they want to see the liquid going down and how easily it slides down.

I had dinner like 4 hours ago and I'm still full, I have lots of gas, it feels weird! Not bad though, I'm sure if I was stuck I would know right?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
