So I had my surgery a week from tomorrow and I am still in the hospital. 6 days I'm going crazy! I can't get anything liquid down and they can't send me home bc then ill just get dehydrated. But I'm nauseous 24-7 and dry heaving. Has this ever happened to anyone? Id really like some advice. Thanks!

Also the videogram said everything was flowing fine. They even tried taking some Fluid out of the band but still feeling gross.

Sorry I don't have any advice, but lots of sympathy! Hang in there. ((Hugs))

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I could get liquid down, but I had terrible, nightmarish nausea for about a week. I did end up in the emergency room one night. It seemed there was little they could do until the post-surgical swelling went down.

The good news is, as soon as the swelling went down, I was fine and have been ever since. Later, I was afraid I might have a bad reaction to fills, but that hasn't been the case at all. They are no problem.

Hang in there -- I am hoping things improve 100% for you VERY shortly! (hugs)

I haven't had to deal with anything like this but I did have this question since you said they tried taking some Fluid out of the band. did you have some in it? and is it empty now? if there is some in it they may need to remove all of it and let your tummy settle down and the swelling go down. hope you get to go home soon!!

My experience has been horrible. My liver was torn in 2 places and bile leaked into my body. had to be put back into the hospital for 4 days to try and figure that out and deal with the pain. I was banded 10/11/10. and have been in pain everyday since.had to take off work for 5 weeks. I received my first fill today and the pain is bad. I'm trying to stay positive but its getting hard. I'm sorry your having a tough time with yours as well. wish I could help.but i don't even know how to help myself.good luck to you!

What size band did they put in you? I ask because I know someone who had great difficulty post op and after two days they took her back into surgery and gave her a larger band. Once that was done, she's done very well.

I agree with the previous poster who suggested that they remove ALL of the starter Fluid from your band if they haven't already.

Hope you feel better soon.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
