How long after band can I get my hair done?

Recommended Posts

Silly question, huh?

I am not telling anyone about my band (including my anorexic hair dresser who is always giving me advice on how "to get controle of this body")

How long until I could get highlights& cut....sit in chair, sit back to have wash etc. Dont want to be in struggling uncomfortably.

Thanks!

Some people will say they felt well enough for that in a few days. Personally for me it would have been about 7-10 days. PS I'd find a new hair-dresser...you should surround yourself with positive, supportive people weather they know about the band or not.

I had mine done about 5 weeks ago with no problems. I think you should get a new stylist. Having your hair done is supposed to be relaxing.

My stylist is banded also. She's really inspiring to me and we have a lot to talk about now.

I could've got my haircut 20 minutes after surgery. Of course, I'm a guy and only have to sit for 10 minutes.

I had surgery on Monday and I went back to work and sat for half a day on Friday. I was sooo glad to get home and lay down. But, by Monday I was back to my old self and the following Saturday I got my hair done. I wore comfortable clothing and was okay. Your incisions may still be tender so if you can wear a comfortable dress that might be preferable. Some people take longer to return to normal/semi-normal.

Maybe I missed something, but why not get your hair done before surgery?

I have a hair appointment on November 6th and a potential surgery date of November 10th. Now for insurance approval...

I cant have hair done before surgery. I will be banded 10/21 and my hair dresser books up a month in advance.

My hair dresser is what my grandma would cal bat-shit-crazy. Can I say that?

BUT- my color has never looked so good! Ha! I had a few bad colors (hair fell out) and I really love what she does. To be honest, nothing she says bothers me even a little. I know she is nutts so most of what she says makes me want to laugh. I read a lot when she is working.

Thanks for the input!

For me the port area was the most tender. I think that I would have wanted a least 7 days after surgery before having to layback in the hairwashing chair; and then struggle to sit back up. Even when I was thin I had trouble with that. Took me two weeks before I could stand up from a chair without some pain in the port area. The further out I was the less the pain. Only had liquid Tylenol and the port area pain during the process of standing was at most a 3 on a scale of 10.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
