I was wondering what is everyones pre op diet??? What are you eating/drinking and for how long before procedure!! I was curious to see if they differ or if they are all similar.

My doctor requires a two week Protein shake diet. I was allowed three Bariatric Advantage Protein shakes a day....and all the Water and no-cal iced tea I could drink!

You will find that the pre-op diet greatly varies from one surgeon to another. My recommendation is to follow YOUR surgeons rules and advice. He/she has a specific reason for those rules and ultimately he/she will be the one that cuts you open!

I wish you good luck!

Even though I haven't gotten my approval yet I have all my pre-op instructions. My pre-op diet is 3 days. Day 1 and 2, Clear liquids all day and 1 solid food meal per day. Day 3 (day before surgery) take only Clear Liquids until midnight, nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery.

My list of clear liquids are:

Apple juice

cranberry juice, all types

grape juice

fruit punch

juice drinks (Juicy Juice, etc)

coffee, tea, iced tea, Decaf tea, decaf coffee

Koolaid

Crystal light drinks

Gatorade

Propel

Lemonade (no pulp)

Water

Special K Protein Water

Clear Protein Drinks (Isopure, Protein shot, Protein 2 go)

popsicles (no real fruit) not sugar free

Jello (no fruit) not sugar free

broth, beef, chicken, vegetable

Italian ice

That is pretty much word for word on my pre-op nutrition list.

I have a 5 day pre-op diet that consists of 2 Protein Shakes a day, sugar-free Jello and pudding and broth. I am currently on my 3rd day of it and it has gotten slightly better. I was starving that first day, but I stuck with it. My surgery is this Friday and I can't wait to get it over with!!

Mine is 2 Protein Shakes and either a Lean Cuisine or a lean protein/steamed veggies for dinner. I can have as much Jello, Crystal Light, broth, sugar free popsicles, etc as I want. I can also have a can of diet pop/day for two weeks. They want to keep it high Protein, low carb/calorie. My surgeon's office says it is to shrink the liver. Tomorrow I have to have only clear fluids then surgery is Thursday. My surgeon's office say they have those with apple body types to do all liquids two weeks before and those with pear body types to do the diet I'm doing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
