Hopes that insurance will approve my surgery

Hi, I am about 2 months along in the process for getting lap-band. I have been to the seminar and two weight-in doctors' appointments. I am praying that my insurance covers the procedure. I am going for a sleep study and am hoping that I have sleep apeana...I know that sounds really sick but then the insurance company would have to authorize the surgery. I am open to all support and anyone experience with UPMC Healthplan (commerical policy).

Thanks!!

oh god, don't wish for sleep apnea. It's terrible. I just found out I had it a couple of months ago and a lot of drs told me that they weren't going to clear me for surgery until at least a month on the cpap. Thankfully, my dr. was cool and cleared me anyway, but the mask is uncomfortable and I cant seem to get used to it. And if you do have sleep apnea, and do not use the machine during surgery, the food from the band can sit in your esophogus and you can inhaleit into your lungs if you're not careful. Just besafe and good luck with everything. I'm waiting on my insurance company as we speak!

I hoped I had gallstones....and I do! yipee! but I still dont know if my ins is going to approve. Good luck to both of us!

I kinda hoped for sleep apnea, too, and have it, just a mild form. So no CPAP machine!

I just found out yesterday that my insurance has approved the surgery! Yipee!

My BMI is barely 35, and I have the mild apnea along with pre-hypertension.

Good luck!
