port pain...or port side pain...??

So, I figured that the port would be a little sore - but its been over a week and it is still pretty tender. The suture line looks great - very bruised.

So when does this port soreness go away...if ever?? My ribs are taking a beating whenever I bend over!

Also, I was reading through some other threads and someone mentioned that their MD asked they not sleep on the port side - anyone else?? I'm pretty sure I wasn't told that. Surely it wont hurt to lay on that side....

Hmm.....

I am almost 6 weeks out and am just now where I can stand any pressure on my port site. I can lay on my stomach but it isn't very comfortable. My Dr said it was fine to lay on side or belly.

I was banded two weeks ago today. I still have a bit of pain, very far to the side on the port side. It's only slightly bothering me tonight. I tried reclining on my side for a couple minutes & it went fine. I'm still being extremely careful of sleeping on my side & have not yet slept on my stomach (I normally sleep on my stomach). It seems to be getting better day by day.

give it the full 6 weeks I know it sucks but that really does seem to be the magic number. Hope you feel better. :smile2:
