Brown Fluid Came out When Getting a Fill
I have not had the port replaced yet. I am supposed to go back to the surgeon next Wednesday. I also miss having the restriction. I am not sure what to do. I want to continue what I started with loosing weight, but I am afraid it will happen again. Also I haven't been feeling too good lately. Something just doesn't feel right on my stomach. Maybe it is just gas. :frown: I just don't know. Part of me says "get it out! your body doesn't want it in there" another part of me says " you need to loose weight look how well it worked just try it one more time" all I know is that I want to feel good again and I am not sure that the band is the answer. Thank you so much for updating me on how you are doing.

I am not sure I even want the band anymore. After the crap that has happened so far. I must have been tired when I wrote that post.

port abscess anyone?
Hi I am trying to find out if anyone else has had a port infection, had the port removed, and then had it replaced. I am trying to decide it it is worth getting it replaced. I would like to hear your story

Brown Fluid Came out When Getting a Fill
I have heard of it. I recently had a port site infection. It was an abscessed infection. I had been pulling weeds in the yard and I thought I was just sore because my abdomen kept hitting my upper thigh. But then I noticed I was getting really sore at the sight and I had a slight fever and I was so tired, So I made an appt. to see the surgeon and he immediately made me go the ER to get a CT of the abdomen. My surgeon showed up in the ER to see me he used a needle and syringe and drew out some brown fluid. It was yucky. He had me get an endoscopy to see if the band had erroded into the stomach. It didn't. I had the port removed and now deciding on if I should get it replaced or not. How are you doing now? I hope you are ok.

Left shoulder pain back after 9 weeks???
Hopefully you aren't having this problem....I had a lot of pain in my left shoulder at about a month after surgery. One day it was so bad that I went home to bed and I finally went to the ER. I ended up getting the tube from the band to the port shortened because the tube was rubbing on my diaphragm causing "reffered" pain in my shoulder. So I would say if it doesn't go away and it is really painful you should bug your surgeon about it.

port pain...or port side pain...??
give it the full 6 weeks I know it sucks but that really does seem to be the magic number. Hope you feel better. :smile2:

Life is funny and I am too
Well I am a little embarrassed to say this but I didn't realize that my first blog entry in December was public. I guess I was thinking that I would look at it again later and then publish or something. I am glad that it did end up that way because I need to read your comments. Thank you very much. I know now that I will be alble to eat like a normal person. I know that I will still be able to use the Kitchen Aid mixer. I think that my biggest worry now is waiting for my health insurance to say yes or no on covering the procedure. [/font

Thinking about major changes
There are so many things that I am doing so wrong right now when it comes to the way I eat and the way I don't exercise. I know that in the very near future my life will change in many ways. I will no longer be able to be carefree and gluttonous when it comes to good food. I will have to eat certain things and not eat like everyone else does. This will result in my loosing lots of weight and I will be healthy. It is just that I got a really awesome Kitchen Aid stand mixer for Christmas and now I wont be able to use it. :cursing: OK I will be able to use it but I will not be able to lick the frosting from the bowl or eat the chocolate chip cookies that I just baked. Don't get me wrong this is a good thing because normally would eat the whole dozen chocolate chip cookies in one night. I love to cook. I don't know if it is because I like to eat what I cook or is it because it is artistic and I like pleasing other people. I think it is a little of both. So I cant eat the cookie dough when I am making the cookies any more. Maybe I should stuff tissues up my nose when I am making cookies for holidays :scared2: or not. Things will just have to change. I have to realize that this is not the end of the world. Food is not the most important thing in the world. I need to eat to live not live to eat.

lapbanders called cheats
Hi there. I just wanted to comment. I am not banded yet but will be in March. I have hesitated telling lots of people because I don't want anyone to bother me with the same stuff. "why don't you just exercise more?" ok you try hefting aroung an extra 100 + pounds while you exercise and see how your knees and hips and breathing feel. "well all you have to do is not eat so much" Ya and you are the expert of me...I don't think so. I guess they just don't try to understand what we are going through. Yes I was successful in the past with dieting but it keeps coming back. I don't think it is anyone's business what we are trying to do to help ourselves feel good again. No matter what we do if we are heavy we can't make them happy, if we are getting surgery to loose weight we can't make them happy. I am doing this for me NOT them.

Had my evaluation today!!
well my doctor let me choose whatever plan I wanted. I think she has done this for a few times for other patients. If I want my insurance to pay for the procedure I have to be qualified so I pass all of the qualifications except one which is the 6 months of medically supervised wt. loss program. I chose weight watcher online. My BCBS requires this but not everyone's Blue Cross Blue Sheild does. There are so many different plans out there. I just feel blessed that my insurance will cover it.

Had my evaluation today!!
thanks for your post. i have my first appointment on November 11th. I also have BCBS. I have to wait until at least March because of the "doctor monitored weight loss program" But after that I will be on my way. I hope everything goes well for you. I am just nervous that something will stop me from getting the surgery. Other than that I feel like this surgery is way better than getting a bypass. At least we will still have our own stomach.
