Poppie, so sorry your doc changed it! But you'll soon be on your way!!

How is everyone doing? I had to attend a 2 1/2 hour education course about the Lap Band on Tuesday. It is required by the doc and insurance company. It was very interesting. It was a lot of info that I already knew from research, but a lot of new info too.

So my surgery is 11/11. I have to fly to FL the weekend before my sister in-law's baby shower. I am going to have to be on the liquid diet and that time and it is going to be hard to stick with it!! All this great food, and not a morsel for me! Ugh!! But it is all worth it in the end!!

Hi Everyone! I just got my surgery date this week, and Im on for 11/10. I could have had it the last week in October, but am trying to wait until I have a bit more vacation saved up. Im nervous but very excited. I dont have to have any additional testing done before the surgery, which I thought was a good sign.

Ape, great news!! It's funny that you pushed yours back till November, as I did the same thing for the same reason. I am a teacher and waited till Veteran's Day to do it so that I would not have to use so many days. Nice to have you here!

purple, I got a lot of flack about doing it in November too. Everyone said to wait until after the holidays. But I just want it done! I actually hope that after the holidays I have at least dropped 20 lbs!! I am actually doing it 2 days before my birthday, so everyone thought I was even crazier! I just look at it that the next round of holidays and my my next birthday will be the best I had in years!!

I went to BJ's today and saw that they sell Muscle Milk Light. 18 in a case for $25.00. That is a great deal! So I bought 2 cases for now and I'll get another 2 in a about 2 weeks. They also sell Myoplex Light too. I have not tried that one yet. But I am happy since my nutritionist recommended these brands, and they are a great price! I was going to stick with Medifast, since I liked the taste of it, but the Muscle Milk tastes fine to me too. And it is half the price of the Medifast. So that was my perk for the day!! :smile2:)

I have tried the Myoplex just to get a taste of different things so I could prepare for my liquid diet stages and I like it a lot. It does make you not hungry but I noticed that only lasts for an hour or two. I go in on Oct 7th and will finalize my date then. I am hoping for Nov 1st but they may keep it at Nov 15th. We'll see.

people have saying the same to me too- wait until after the holidays! But I am at my max deductable and I'm going to get it this year!!! And it will be good to say i will be losing weight and not gaining over Thanksgiving and Christmas..

How is everyone doing? I have had a rough weekend for eating, I had been doing so well and I had 2 friends birthdays and I don't know what happened! I think I am scared I am never going to be able to enjoy some of my favorite foods again. They wont agree with me or they wont go down. I think I needed one last hoorah with my food! If that makes any sense. and of course, I felt horrible after eating this weekend. My last dietican appointment is on Friday and I need to be down 3 more pounds. At least I didnt gain any weight this weekend. Well, tomorrow is a new day and I will get rid of 3 more pounds!!!

I am now scheduled for 11/10. The decision to have it done prior to the holidays was a no-brainer! Why would I want to put-off the very thing I have been jumping through hoops to get for 6 months? Not to mention, why be fat a day longer than I have to?

The Lap-Band was my first choice (no plumbing work) but I was really hoping to be able to convince BCBS Anthem to allow a Sleeve. They won't, but the Band really is the least invasive procedure and will allow me to return to work soonest. (I wash houses for a living.) Also, we've maxed-out on our out-of-pocket for the year, so the the whole procedure will cost us $0(!), so whatever I get, it needs to be before 12/31.

Hi lowPSI!

Your story is pretty similar to mine. Im going in for my band on 11/10, but I also tried for the sleeve (my dr's wanted me to get it because I had more weight to lose than what they thought I could acheive on the band  ) but tri care wouldnt approve it. I did lose some weight between my denial for the sleeve, and had to go back and the dr's said they thought since I did lose weight on my own I could do the band, so here I am :) ! I also need to go back to work soon afterwards (although I would love to have 2 weeks Im going to be lucky to get 2 working days withouth complaint :) ) but Ive gotta do what's best for me.

Good luck on your band! Just thought I'd let you know you're not gonna be alone that day :D

I have been trying some shakes out also I like premier that I can get at costco it has 30 grams of Protein. I bought muscle milk 100 cal. which I think now is different than just the light and it was disgusting. I have to try just the light and return the other ones. I also like carnation instant Breakfast but I don't think it has enough protein in it. This month I have a marathon of appointments. I am also finding it hard to stay on a good eating plan...I guess I just keep thinking there are foods I want to eat before I can not anymore....I know this is not right but it is my warped thinking...:)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
