Do I need to be unfilled a little?

Hey guys! I went for my second fill August 12. I've noticed that I am having a very hard time with certain foods. Bread and meat seem to get stuck no matter how much I chew. Not even sure if it's stuck...I get a bad pain in my gut and get all phlemmy (sorry!). I can eat about a cup of food otherwise. I'm scared to get unfilled even a little cuz I'm doing pretty good with my weight loss (37 pounds-banded May 13). Is there anything else I can do? I'm not sure if it's something that's just going to take time to get used to or if my band is too tight. Thanks for your time guys! :)

I had my surgery a little over a year ago. I've lost 100 lbs. I'm hoping to lose about 30 more.

I also get ideas from Vegetarian magazines, sometimes other things like health magazines or cookbooks. Sometimes those recipies call for pastas or grains that I can't eat, but I just omit them. As long as veggies are somewhat cooked, I can eat them. They don't have to be total mush or anything. I actually like them to have some crunch to them

If I'm unsure how a veggie will work w/my band, I'm really cautions and chew it a lot until I get the feel for it.

How long did it take you to get use to how you have to eat with the band? I mean did you have a hard time getting use to eating slow or chewing more? Because that is one of my issues I find that sometimes I still eat to fast, and dont chew my food enough. But a immediatley know why something does not go down. I am glad that I found this site because you have helped me a lot and gave me some good advice.

Thanks- I've found lots of great info on this site as well.

I think it took me about 2 to 3 months to feel mostly adjusted to the new way of eating, measuring, drinking an hour AFTER eating, etc.

Even still, if I wait to long to eat, I have to remind myself to eat slower. If you go too long and are extra hungry, you might be more likely to eat quickly. That's when I have to pay attention to how I'm eating. But most of the time now it just comes natural to me.

When were you banded? how long has it been?

I used to set my fork or spoon down in between bites to make myself slow down. . . actually, I still do most times! But I used to have to make myself do that-- now it comes naturally

  • 2 weeks later...

I was banded March of 2010. It was the best decision I made I am glad I did it.
