After a lot of research,I decided to take steps to get the Lapband. I am very fortunate that my insurance covers the surgery completely,however,I have to wait 6 months.They require 6 months with a nutritionist which I am finding to be extremely helpful.

My surgeon is Dr Erhlich from Fairfield County,CT. So far he is great and his staff is amazing.

Congrats on your date and starting your journey! January 2011 will be here before you know it! I hope to be at (or preeetty close to) my goal by then Definitely best of luck to you!

Revolver: I just personally wanted to say welcome and to tell you that the 6 mos will pass before you know. I remember being where you are in January and thinking 6 mos is so far away and I finally had my surgery on Aug 20. One of the things I did EVERYDAY was visited this site to read the stories of others to keep me motivated during the 6 mos.

Hang in there, it will be worth it !!!!

Greetings, Revolver. Hartford area resident here--great to see others from CT here. I'm currently in the three month process of nutritionist, psychologist, cardiologist appointments, along with bloodwork, upper GI, and support group meetings. I have my second appointment with the surgeon on October 6th, after which my info will be submitted for insurance and hopefully a surgical date will be set for sometime in November. I feel the three month + program is taxing, but helpful. I hope you have a good experience with your six month program. I know it's hard to wait--I'm the type of person who wants everything done yesterday. Hopefully our patience and persistance will pay off after we have the band, when we will be really challenged.

the 6 month period seems to be a blessing in disguise..i really feel,for the first time in my life,extremely motivated to make some serious life changes..

these months will help me and my new hubby understand just how important my surgery will be...OUR lives will change,not just mine..i am very blessed to have such a great and supportive family..

however,i will say that i am getting a little impatient..lol...i am an avid shopper so i am trying to refrain from buying any new clothes that are not entirely needed..
