Hey all!! I had my surgery @ the U of M w/Dr. Leslie. He's awsome!! I waited the 6mo (BC/BS) and seemed to actually go quickly!! I liked the fact that it teaches you how to eat properly (even if I was bitchy the first month or so ) Good luck on the hosp./surgeon you choose!! It'll be great!!!

Hi Tina! How are you feeling after 3 fills? Do you feel like you're getting close to the sweet spot?

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks since my surgery already, and hope the next 4 weeks goes just as fast. I need my band "turned on" ASAP!

Carousel- how long did it take you to get the ok from bcbs? I just want to make sure there is enough time in between. Glad you had a good experience with Dr. Leslie!

Hello fellow Minnesotans! I am currently in the process of getting all of my pre-op requirements done through Unity Hospital love to read any experiences people are having! I haven't decided on a surgeon yet though, so if you have advice, please let me know!

Welcome Jamie, and congratulations on taking this step! I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Baker at Unity. My doc referred me there a few years ago but I was too chicken to follow through. Since then, my clinic merged with Fairview so my referral this year was to a Fairview surgeon.

I'm happy with my experience so far at the U of MN Fairview, but I WISH that I was going to Unity (for logistics sake). Driving on the University Campus and dealing with their parking situation is less than ideal. :cursing:

I am going through park nicollet methodist in st louis park and love how they set you up for 2 big 4 hour apts to get all basic apts done. First day I meet with a bareatric nuirse, the bareatric dr then went and got my labs done. They then have time for you to go eat since you have been fasting for 12 hours. Last is the computerized physic test. The second apt is with pt about excersize, dr to go over labs, then you meet with a phycologist to go over your test and to talk. Last apt for today was with a diatition to talk about your eati ng habits and what not. And I found out that's all I needed for apts. Now just waiting to finish my insurance phone calls tat they require. Yay

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
