Well I am OFFICIALY banded!! I was just thinking I can't believe that part is over and done with and now my whole life will change. First of all, thank you for all your prayers because I def feel them from the support around me.

I checked in yesterday at 7am and was out by 1:30. The nurses were great and very thorough and I met with the doc one more time and ( I suggest writing these down) asked him any last questions. Next thing I know, I was being wheeled in the OR and luckily I didn't have my contacts or glasses on bc that could of been a lil overwhelming to see all the instruments etc. They put oxygen on my face and then I woke up crying and in pain and I was in the recovery room. I had already been in there 30 mins and I rolled over onto my left side and they gave me some meds and I started to feel a lil better.. I was in there prob another 30 mins and went back to the other room. I got up, went to the bathroom, and next thing I know leaving the hospital =)

Throughout the rest of the day the pain in my shoulders and upper stomach was really bad. It feels like needles going in. With the pain meds I've been taking 1/2 of one every 2 hrs and I took whole ones every 4 hrs when I slept which was great! I slept through the whole night! Also, a heating pad on my shoulders and stomach is a huge relief! Today, the pain in my shoulders is pretty much gone and just my stomach is tender, I've had 3 shakes and lots of Water and def feel the pain meds working steadily.

Hope this helps in what to look expect.. and again my BMI is 35 and yesterday I was 201... thx for the support and prayers!!

Good luck to Karenwinpa and Charm1123 today. Prayers are coming your way. Also for Nanookgirl and Hansmerl for tomorrow(tuesday). You get to go on the banded list. Four more days for me, Ladybug on a mission and Jullian RN. I don't know about you but I would love to have something to eat. Can't say I'm really hungry but seeing and cooking food is getting hard. I'm sure Wed. and Thu people are getting nervous. We'll make it and help those who are after us. The not knowing is the worse!

I'm on my way to being banded in October, hopefully the 15th or 18th... Yahoo... Tough work, but well worth it.

Are you getting banded then too?? I would love to have friends to talk and share my experiences with, for Encourgament and Cheers for scale & NSV goals.

I'm getting banded tomorrow morning! I am trying not to be nervous and take one day at a time. I'm not even sure I'm posting on this forum correctly but I'm working on it! I like the name Outrageous Octobers!

:tongue2::frown: gran thanks for all the thoughts, but my day didn't go as planned, I arrived at the hospital at 7:00 am for surgery but the Doctor didn't, He canceled my surgery for yesterday the 4th because he hurt his back and needed a day to rest, it upset me but was also fine by me I don't want the doctor working on me in pain or on pain pills, lol, Anyhow I go tomorrow the 5th, and I guess I will band twins with Rose now, I can't wait to be added on the band list. Hopefully they will let me go home on Wednesday from the hospital and when I do I will sure to check in, Good Luck Rose, see you on the banded side. Hope all went well Charm

How did yours go? I went to the hospital at 6 am - surgery at 9:30 am in recovery by noon home by 2:30. Sore but not unbearable. :tongue2: I'm so glad it's over! Thank you all for your support. Will let you know how it goes from here. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences too. Later!

I am so excited to join the Outrageous Octobers!! My surgery is scheduled for the 11th and I am very excited! I am on day 9 of pre-op diet, which seems to be a little different for me, my surgeon had me eating 1000 calories a day and only clear liquid diet the day before surgery. This hasn't been unbearable, but I have only lost 2lbs so far. I am dissapointed since so many others have lost a lot more than that on the pre-op liquid diet. I just hope I am not missing out on something important by not doing the liquid diet. Hope to see many successful updates soon

Well Rose I'm banded and on the other side with you all. My day started being at the hospital at 8:AM and surgery was set for 10:00, the doc. canceled all of his other surgery's for the day and I was the only one, so we were right on time. I was back in my room by 12:30 and up walking at 2:00, I felt great! They told me 16 laps around the floor was a mile so I started out at 2:00 and walked 1/4 mile, at 4:00 I walked 1/2 mile and that is when the pain in my right shoulder set in, it lasted about 1 hour, and then every 2 hours I would walk 1/2 mile and I had no pain. When I left the hospital today I had already walked 4 miles:smile2:. I was proud of myself I fell like a new person and I'm liking that person a whole lot. I'm so glad yours went well Rose I thought about you off and on all day Tuesday, Now I'm on a all liquid diet for 1 week and then I guess I go to soft foods I'll find out for sure on Monday when I have my follow up apt. Good luck to everyone else who is coming up!!!!

Congrats on getting banded! Wow - All that walking! I don't know if I could have done that. They just told me to get up and walk around every 15 minutes so I wouldn't get blood clots. Worked on getting my liquids right today. I tend to "eat" too fast which can cause problems. I have liquids for 1 week, pureed foods one week and then solids beginning 10/19. Doc appt to check on surgery and get my note that I can return to work on 10/20. Good luck everyone and keep us informed on how you're doing! Also thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. I really appreciate them!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
