~say hello to your newest band-sister, ms. whiney butt~

Recommended Posts

Hey all~

I made it! Got my band yesterday - WOO HOO

I am so incredibly sore though. Throat hurts from the tubing, backside still sensitive from the pre-op laxative diet, whoosie whatsie hurts from the catheter, my neck, shoulders, and underarms are bruised and very sore/stiff, gas pain in left shoulder (don't get me started), bleeding from my five insicions, and obvious allergic reaction to the adhesive on the tape they used!!. Let's see did I leave anything out? Oh yeah, started my monthly friend while being operated on!!! nice, huh??? And both my 1 yr old and 3 yr old decided to head-butt me in the stomach this morning - I am pretty sure that helped start the bleeding, ya think?

Did I mention that this was my first big surgery, so I really didn't know what to expect! I promise I am not usually a whiner, so I am blaming it on the anesthesia and my monthly friend! I feel worse than I had hoped but MUCH BETTER than I had expected - so that is a great thing! I would do it again in a heartbeat! Besides, the band and insicions aren't really too bad, just a little sore and stiff - it's all the other crap that I am having trouble with!

Went to the mall today to start some Christmas shopping and get some walking in! I think I was there a bit too long, but the walking really helped with the shoulder gas pain (who'd think the gas would affect your shoulders??) I definitely recommend walking and a nice hot shower!

***Important message - Those of you who are about to get banded and are klutzy like me, please have some one get you one of those "gopher" things. That way you can pick up the light things you drop all over the place instead of yelling for someone to come pick it up for you!!! I dropped my hair brush three times this morning and couldn't bend over to get it. I finally got it in between my toes! So, tonight my hubby and the kids will be going out to buy me the gopher at Walmart!!! ***

Take care y'all!

Gopher? That's what my Dad used to call ME! He said that's what kids were for...

Congrats on your band! (You whiner!)

Congrats on your new band. Sounds like you are doing great! And so what if your whining a little, us moms don't get a chance to do that very often. Take care of yourself!

Congratulations Young Miss!

Everything you said is the very reason I am scared to death. It's not the surgery..... it's being a MOM. Who's on duty 24/7..... MOM. Who makes the Sun shine.... MOM. Where do they seek comfort..... MOM.

Cheri, your band will just make you a better MOM and for that, they will LOVE you more. I'm so proud of you! Please keep me updated on your coping skills for when I get my turn. Your two sound like my four.... nervous, you bet. I am woman hear me ROAR! sleep lots. HUGS,

Cheri, Congrats on getting your band. Take it easy for a few days. (yeah right with 2 babies) Oh well it was a nice thought. Glad you are home and doing well.

Oh golly, you're scaring me, lol. I'm coming home to a young one too, an almost 3 year old who insists on being carried everywhere. I've managed to pack her off for 5 straight days after my surgery.

And I hear you on picking things up from the floor - when I was 75 months pregnant with Eliza I had to use the BBQ tongs - the really long ones - to pick stuff up, if I bent over I threw up!

But thank goodness I got my monthly friend a week early because I too was due around today, right before surgery.

Cheri,

Congrats on being banded. I'm glad to hear that although things aren't exactly hunky dorey, you're still in good spirits!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
