Any September 2010 bandsters to be out there?

I just got home from my surgeon's office, and my surgery will be Sept. 2nd, 2010. I thought maybe we could all get together and try to support eachother through the dreaded pre-op diet and all the pre-op nervousness that goes along with being banded. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? I haven't heard from anyone on this thread in a while!

To all those having surgery today, Good Luck and Congratulations.

Well 14 more days for me to go. Time is just moving so slow. My pre-op testing is next Tuesday. My doctors office told me i don't have to follow any liquid diet before surgery, just try not to have any last big dinners, which i am finding very hard not to do. I want to have all my favorite dishes that I won't be able to eat for awhile after the surgery. But I am forcing myself to cut back, chew slowly and not drink with my foods.

Hi Everyone! Been lurking for a while but just figured I would introduce myself. I had my final(6th month) appointment on August 30th. I met with Dr. Kurian (NYU) and she asked me how soo did I want the surgery. Of course I said ASAP so she gave me a surgery date of Sept 10th! I had to start the liquid diet the very next day. I was so stressed about starting the diet that I didn't even have a "final meal". The liquid diet has been rocky but for me it is more psychological than physical hunger. I recently cheated and had 1 strip of grilled chicken. Three days ago I had one of the 100 calorie pepperoni snack paks. I am so scared she is gonna open me up and say "NO CAN DO! THIS ONE HAS BEEN SNACKING!"

Hi All!

I was banded September 2nd - self-pay - Ugg!

I felt pretty good - right after I woke up, I felt like I couldn't catch my breath and had pressure in my chest which really bugged me, but didn't take long to go away.

I took pain meds for a day and a half - not really in any pain, but helped me relax and sleep instead of stressing about WHY DID I DO THIS???

Have had a few doubts and crying episodes - mostly due to the extreme hunger the clear liquid and then full liquid diet (with nothing warm for one week) have caused me. Not to mention my mom lives with me and cooks fabulous meals for her and my 10 y/o son - so it's tough watching them eat scratch made pesto pizza, bacon and homemade pancakes, chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes peas and corn - aarg - now you know why I am fat! Ha. Try out scratch made cinammon rolls to DIE for :couch2: a blessing and a curse!

Went back to work this Tuesday (so, took last Thursday and Friday off) and felt tired - but OK. Everyone at work kept asking how my five day weekend was and what did I do. Awww - a lot of laying around, didn't really go anywhere… have decided not to tell anyone, at least for now.

Paranoia huge - what if i get a blood clot - are my incisions infected - what if it erodes etc - not usually a worrier so I don't know WHAT my problem is!

So, weighed on Tuesday and am down 8 pounds - plus the 10 from the 2 week low carb diet, for a total of 18 - so THAT made me feel better.

Plus, had some semi-warm brocco cheese soup, and some yummy mashed potatoes and gravy - finally feel like i had something to EAT - so my attitude is much better - at least for the moment!

I have been heavy since about 8 years old - fatter every year and have NO idea what I will look like skinny - so I am excited about that!

:blushing:

Hahaha I thought the same thing, I had a couple bites of cheese and a bite of a YUMMY hamburger when I did my pre-op diet, but I still got banded a week ago.

Thank you so much for this entry!! I have been the same - heavy since I was young, so as my boot camp instructor put it...This is a whole new journey for you - you don't even know how good you can feel!

I can't wait!!

I had my last dr appt today before surgery next Wednesday.

I got the basics - two protein shakes a day plus a healthy choice dinner, then clear liquids the day before and nothing day of.

The day of surgery they have me drinking 2 oz of protein shake every hour plus 1 oz water or crystal light every 15 minutes in between.

Then for the next two weeks, nothing but protein shakes!

There is SO much to remember. Good thing I have these lists and lists of rules

sept 13th for me i am so excited

Just chiming in, I am having my Lapband done this coming Monday the 13th... I actually started the whole process first of the year with my insurance required office visits but I asked my surgeon if we could hold off on my surgery until swimming season was over this year. We have a pool and I knew I wouldnt be able to get back in pool water for awhile after surgery.

Best wishes to everyone who just had the surgery and everyone having it this month! So blessed to be beginning this journey and step towards a healthier life.

Well, Im back and Im banded! Everything went well yesterday. I am home resting now. Best of luck to all the upcoming surgery folks!

I was banded yesterday the 10th and other then being a little sore I feel great! Had some shoulder pain yesterday but I walked around for awhile and got a full nights sleep. =) Its strange though.. not sure it is has really sinked in yet.

Congrats to all who have had their surgeries! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Mine is next Thursday - trying to make it through the pre-op diet.

Jamie, I think I am the old one in the group here! But no worries, looking forward to losing weight and feeling better soon.
