having surgery on September 16. Here is my blog though from weightloss Fldanny’s Weightloss and Fitness Blog
Congtratulations and welcome to our group.
Cathy, Check this out Buy Rite Aid Calcium 500 mg Online at drugstore.com
I'm so glad to see somebody out there makes just a calcium citrate. Now if we can only find it in liquid or chewable.
I was going over a CD that my dr. provided and one of the things they suggest to have peppermint extract for after surgery (at home) helps with the nausea. Dr. said just sprinkle a bit on ice cubes (might want to ask your dr. too) :)
That is awesome to know. I'll add it to my list for sure.
Welcome:smile: we are all here to help. I found this group and I luv it...it has been so helpful... Thanks guys.

Still waiting for the doctor's office to call me with a date. I guess I should be patient since I just got approved last Friday and they did tell me they would call me in a week with a date for Sept. I just haven't started with the Protein drink and I know I need to.:smile2:

Boy, do I know what you mean. I was going on week three and having a fit that no one would give me the opportunity to schedule my surgery. It finally happened and everyone is happy. I am sure they are, they are not hearing from me anymore. You think they would learn that lesson real fast. I sure hope you hear something soon.
My surgery is set for 9/1. My pre-op is Friday the 20th and my class is tomorrow night. I have not started the pre-op diet yet but am certainly watching what I eat. I spoke to my PA about how everyone with later dates than me has already started and he did not seem that concerned. I am assuming that I am starting full liquid diet Sat am ( oh joy!! ) but am excited to get this party started if ya know what I mean!! This September group is FANTASTIC and a huge help to someone like me who is basically clueless!! Thanks everybody!!
I have read several on here that don't have a pre-op diet. I'm sure if you doctor wanted you on one he would have given you plenty of notice. Let us know how Friday goes. I go to my class next Monday.
Hi everyone! I have a surgery date of 9/7/10. Now waiting to see if my insurance will approve it.
Congratulations and welcome. Don't be silent.

What other things did you have on your pre-op list.

It will be very interesting to see all the different suggested Vitamins to get. Seems that each doctor has their own system and I bet we have several different versions listed before long. Here is my list.

Vitamins:

sublingual Vit B12 - 1000mcg daily

calcium citrate - 1500mg (taken in 3 doses of 500 ea)

Magnesium - 400mg daily

Vit D - 400IU daily

2 week Pre-op diet (given by dietitian):

3 Meal Replacements (liquid and/or solid) with less than 200 calories, more than 10gms of Protein, between 15-27gms of Crabs and less than 7gms of Fat.

and

1 meal of regular food that I would eat a year from now and in those portions.

6 week Post-op diet

sugar-free liquids and if you are still hungry after 10 minutes then Full Liquids

to get the logo, you should be able to click the thumbnail to bring it up full sized. Then you right click and chose "save as" or something like that. Save it to your hard-drive and then go to your "User CP" and click "edit signature" and there is a spot to upload it. Make sure you check the box that says something like "Add image to signature".

Hi Gale,

I am so glad that you finally heard from them. Did they say why they will only submit 3 weeks before surgery? I guess they feel confident that your file is a slam dunk.

Thanks for trying to help me find a calcium citrate chewable. All 3 of the ones that you send me have either Vit D or magnesium or both. It should be illegal for companies to put more than the recommended daily dosage.

Twinlab Calcium Citrate chewable wafers have 400IU of Vit D (100%), 1000mg of Calcium (100%) and 500 mg of Magnesium (125%).

Rainbow Light Calcium Citrate, chocolate chewables have 1000mg of Calcium (100%), 1000IU of Vit D (250%) , 500mg of Magnesium (125%)

Bluebonnet - Liquid Calcium Magnesium Citrate has 1200mg of Calcium (120%), 800ID of Vit D (200%) and 600mg of Magnesium (150%).

I think I finally have my Calcium project finished.

I am looking at:

Carlson Chewable Calcium Citrate (Vanilla) flavor - 250mg of Calcium --or --

Now Calcium Citrate powder - 1tsp is 700mg --or--

Solaray Calcium Citrate Chewable - 250mg, 2mg of Vit C

Has anyone every heard of either of these 3 companies?

Thanks for everyones help.

Cathy

Congrats on your date Cathy. After all that waiting, it's great that your surgery is so soon. I can't wait for full details.

I bought the costco version of Viactiv which seems to meet the Calcium requirements. They taste pretty good actually.

My date is 3 and a half weeks away and I swear it feels like a year. I have not been approved by insurance yet, so I am panicking a bit. The doctor hasn't submitted it yet. I know they'll call if something is missing, but I'm starting to get nervous. Postponing this thing might kill me!

CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to our world
Congrats on your date Cathy. After all that waiting, it's great that your surgery is so soon. I can't wait for full details. It was a huge relief to get a date and then to get a sooner one was fantastic.

I hope you guys get approved within days of them submitting your paperwork.

We all need to think positive thoughts and a looming uncertainty of approval is just counter productive.

I did absolutely nothing towards my surgery until I had approval. I'll pray for your approval to come soon.

Hi Everyone! Happy Hump Day (just 40 minutes left but better late then never!)

Welcome all newbies!

As for Calcium, I have began taking Caltrate (as per doctor recommendation to add some calcium last month), its 600 mgs (plus Vitamin D) for 1 pill. Its recommended to take 3 but right now I just take 1 and then 1 multi-vitamin- Centrum... I just bought the chewable ones but haven't finished my regular bottle yet, I have a few more days left with those.

hey everyone :) congrats to all! i am so happy to be here and to see that i am going through the same thing as everyone else. 1 question how do i get into this fabulous group? and then a million more questions to fallow

How do you get into this fabulous group... GIRL, You're ALREADY in... You're getting banded in September and you are interested in being with us! :smile2: So glad you joined us!

I agree Lily, its seems like its going sooo slow but really, its not... I keep saying 3 weeks-- hahaha I said 3 weeks like 5 weeks ago. I guess thats just my excitement!

I am starting my pre-diet tomorrow! Its sooner then required by my doctor, but it can't hurt. I would like to lose a few extra pounds as a jump start. Maybe I won't be super super strick with it but its a start.

I told my job today that I will be having surgery so I won't be in that week of.. I told them its for my hiatal hernia... Not a complete lie... I will be having my hernia repaired  I can't wait! Woo hoo!

Kimmila and Mom05 Congrat on your surgery dates.

Lillyegg: I understand your filling! I'm in the same boat as

you, my paper work will not be submitted until September 9 2010,

I fill a little panicked also.

Cathy, I'm not sure . Why the hospital will only submit paper work,

3 weeks before the surgery date.

I don't want to start shopping

for things and the insurance don't approve me. But if and when the time comes. I can say,

"I'm happy to be a part of this group", when I have to start

shopping for Vitamins, you will have it all mapped out for me. Will

at this time looks like being last is a good thing.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
