  • Don't compare yourself to other bandsters, I drove myself crazy doing that. I had no restriction for 6 months and gained and lost the same 4 lbs over that time. I finally got enough restriction that

I think it matters if you were on a pre-op diet as well...meaning - I have been on a 2 week, very strict, protein supplement diet. I have lost 14 pounds as of this morning (hoping for one more pound

i started out on preop diet at 294 dropped down to 288 for band date 7/16/10. now its down to 278. guess everyone goes at there speed.

Day 10 post op and down 18 pounds.

Went into a ketogenic diet post-op (protein/Atkins).

Also think there was a fair amount of Water loss as one has in ketogenic diet.

Have lost 18 pounds and actually little worried if it should be a bit slower.

Congrats, I also had my lap on july 9.. As of today i have lost 9 lbs but still feeling very hungry..I have read lots of messagages and it seems everybody's weight lose is different. Best luck to you

I was banded July 8, 2010 and have lost 20 lbs. so far. I kind of feel stupid now for being disappointed in the fact that is all I have lost so far. I had alot of swelling after my surgery with gas but, that has subsided and I am still having good restriction. I go for my first post op visit this Friday. I am not sure what to expect. I do know this...I think we tend to be very hard on ourselves because we are so afraid of "failing" at this weight loss journey. I feel "obligated" to lose the weight now or risk being embarrassed that I had surgery and still couldn't lose weight! Plus, I know I feel like everyone is "watching" and of course...they always ask.."How much weight have you lost so far?". I know they mean well...but, it sure is alot of pressure to "lose" up to everyone's expectations! Good luck with your journey!

I think it was the exercise that I was missing, I have been working out as of day 9 post op and have started to see movement on the scale! Thank you all for your support! I have been able to eat "normal" food as of day 4, just drastically less than before, and the second I feel full the band tells me and I stop, where before I would finish EVERYTHING in sight before I stopped eating. I was on a pre op diet which is where I lost the initial 7 lbs. Thank you all for sharing you experience and words of wisdom with me!!!
