I had my surgery 10 days ago and I am now on a full liquid diet. The first week I wasn't hungry now I am. I am getting tired of the liquid diet. But to make matters worse I haven't lost a pound. If I was losing something I could deal with the hunger easier. I realize I didn't gain this wait overnight and it will take me a while to loose it. But I thought I would be losing something. I know I just got to be patient and get through this liquid phase of 21 days but I am struggling.

Hi,

Day 9 so I am in the same boat as you ! I'm walking thru the house like a caged Tiger. My stomach is roaring and hurts from hunger. I have lost a little but real hunger kicked in on Wed. I don't know how I'll make it to next Wed. I do see the Nutr. and surgeon Mon. I just finished a 12 oz chic broth with Protein Powder mixed in and I still need (not want) something. This is no help but, you're not alone. Anyone have any Ideas???? HELP

Give your body time to heal! You just had surgery. You may be holding onto some Water weight. You definitely aren't gaining, so take that into account. Let your body heal and the weight will come off.

This happened to me as well. First week I didn't lose much, then the second week I was losing 7lbs a week. The liquid diet is HARD, but stick with it. It's all worth it in the end.

Your body is busy doing lots of things--losing FAT may be among them, but sometimes that doesn't show up on the scale. Your incisions are tiny, but there is more trauma than visible to your eye; there is tissue swelling and Fluid retention.

The weight will come off--truly. Even as your weight holds steady right now, your body is likely losing fat. The scale just doesn't tell the whole story.

I am right there with you as far as frustration goes! I lost 15 pounds during the 2 week pre-op liquid diet, then gained 13 pounds in 2 days while in the hospital having the surgery. I have lost all of that, and only one pound more! I have seriously eaten less than 500 calories per day, mostly liquids. I was banded on 6/14/10 and I am getting very disgusted. My first post-op appt. is tomorrow so we shall see if this is normal or not. I even sat and watched my entire family Celebrate my birthday with food and cake and I didn't eat one bite!

Mom and Carol...Believe me when I say that the weight will start coming off! I experienced that nightmare plateau when I went from Clear Liquids to full liquids. I got so frustrated because I was doing so good on my "diet", yet nothing was coming off. I plateaued for over two weeks. The weight WILL come off!

Betsy is right...your body has been through alot! It needs to heal. Trust me, I didn't want to hear this when I was in my plateau, but hearing other ppl tell me this is what got me through it. I knew what was happening was normal and I wasn't alone.

Hang in there guys! The weight will come off! Good luck! :)

Same thing is happening to me. I was banded June 10. First week I gained 4 lbs and was only on liquids. But since then I lost 10 lbs. But NOW I am on mushies and staying under 900-1000 calories and have gained some. My first fill is on July 14. My doc office said this is all normal and don't be concerned if I don't lose anything until my first fill. It is frustrating, but hoping this all changes after my fill. I feel no restriction, but I am stopping and only eating what I am suppose to be eating, but at the same time I want to see results.....

I almost cried when I read this thread because I had my surgery on 06/15/10 and I was fine the first week, lost 5 pounds and was feeling great. Yesterday I woke I have been starving. I was thinking that my band slipped or that I had done something wrong. I started drinking Protein Shakes and drinking Water like crazy but I cannot seem to stay full. I meet with my doctor on Friday and I hope that he tells me that I can eat something other that the shakes and mushies. I have also gained 3 pounds so that made me discouraged. I feel like I could eat a full meal. I am at a loss.

It is just so nice to know that I am not the only one out there feeling this way. Thanks for all of your input. This is all so knew that it is nice to find that other people are going through the same thing.:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
