Where will we be?

Recommended Posts

I was just reading posts wondering where I'll be a year from now. We're all getting the band around the same time and I wanted to see what your thoughts are.

I'm hoping to have lost at least 50 pounds, although if I average the recommended 2 lbs per week I should hopefully be beyond that. I'm also hoping to be more active since I'll be able to get around easier with less weight.

That's where I hope to be, what about you?

Oh gosh...a year form now??? I'm being banded the same day as you and I have 92 pounds to go till I reach my goal of 130. I'm hoping with a lot of hard work to be at that in a year. We'll see....

Looks like we are all pretty close in our loss goals. I hope to lose 100 lbs, but will be very happy with 80.

All I want for this time next year is to be closer to my goal than I am now. I know myself well enough to know that lower expectations will mean less frustration down the line. When I get frustrated, I tend to give up or sabotage myself and I'm putting a stop to that right now.

If I want to be 140, I have 100 lbs to go. I set a small goal so far of 175. I hope to have reached that by this time next year.

I am getting banded on June 14th in Pittsburgh PA:blush:

I'm getting banded on June 9th on my 29th birthday. On my 30ths birthday I want to be at least 75 lbs lighter, but I'd be happy as a lark if I could get down 100+ lbs. I want to have a big 30th birthday bash with all my friends and family and Celebrate how far I've come! And I want to look hot and sexy in my new (smaller) clothes! lol

Got it. Thank you. Does it automatically update your weight or do I need to redo it each time?

I think when you update it on Ticker Factory it automatically updates in your signature.

I think it's pretty reasonable to think that I could get to goal (150#) in a year. I've made a lot of headway before my surgery date, so hopefully things won't slow down too much after banding!

I hope to get below 180 by next year (65# lost). That was my HS weight, and although it was heavy, I still felt pretty good. I think that's reasonable!

What a great question to pose!! I hope in 12 months time I can look back and remember all the fun active things I have been able to do with friends and family. I was banded on June 2 and with the combination of no alcohol for the month of May, the pre-op OPti-Fast and the post-op liquid diet I am 15 kgs (33lbs) lighter than I was at my heaviest.

I am so glad to have made this decision to make the permanent, sustainable change to my life.

Aloha - I am scheduled for June 10th, hope to be 100 pounds lighter by one year...I've set a shorter term goal of 50 pounds lost by December for our trip to Hawaii. Doing quite well ont he three week liquid pre-op diet. 19.5 pounds lost so far! Hope we all do our very best to lose the weight and be happier and healthier...good luck to everyone!

Go June 2010 Bandsters!

By my birthday next year in July, I hope to be rid of 100 excess pounds, we'll see

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
