Hello kinda new here...had my surgery March 1, 2010...lost 40 pounds so far...not sure what the fullness or the restriction is supposed to feel like...not sure what anything is supposed to feel like...sometimes I feel full really soon and sometimes I don't depends on what I am eating...have had some stuck episodes...surprisingly with a hard boiled egg...scared me really bad...couldn't breath for a minute...any suggestions for me to actually know what I am doing? This may sound a little weird. I have 6 and a half cc's...does anyone think that is too much...maybe I am right on the edge of the right amount...still waiting to see...also keep going back and forth with a couple of pounds...maybe I should stay off the scale? ??:scared2:

sometimes I feel full really soon and sometimes I don't depends on what I am eating

This is normal. Some foods are difficult to eat and will fill you up really quickly e.g solid Protein such as meat/chicken. Other foods go down really easily so it takes lots to fill you up. They are called slider foods and you should try to avaoid them. They include crisps, chocolate, icecream, Desserts etc. Some sliders are OK in small quantities as they provide imprtant nutrients e.g yogurt.

I am not surprised you got stuck on a hard boiled egg. I have always found them dry and really difficult to eat even preband.

The thing is to always eat slowly, small bites and chew really well. If you do get stuck stop eating and don't try to drink as it makes it worse. I generally try to burp or cough the stuck item up as when it comes up you get relief.

Some people guzzle a fizzy drink really quickly. Apparently this unblocks you and brings iit up really fast so only do it near a toilet or sink!Others swear by papaya enzymes but for me they do nothing.

In time you will figure out what works for you.

Also the optimum level of fill to achieve restriction is different for everyone. Some people have 10 cc bands with only 1 or 2cc and they are restricted. Others have overfilled bands.

As for the scale............

I still jump on it EVERY morning!

I was also banded on March 1st and have lost 22 lbs. So 40 lbs is great!!! Wish I could say that. I have gotten 2 fills and have 4.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. The last file gave me pretty good restriction because things started getting stuck and I had to be much more careful how and what I eat. I kinda feel like I need a little more fill but not much. My body is weird, I will drop 4-5 lbs in a week and then nothing for a couple of weeks. Very frustrating. I'm just happy that I am losing, it may be slow but its going in the right direction. :scared2:

I don't really have any secret...way back when I started this whole process I was weighing 316...down to 248 now...day of surgery 290...so like 42 pounds...watching what I eat and going to the gym...back when I was heavier...didn't even want to leave my room...now less weight...doing more stuff (activities)...i thought my weight loss was going slow...i guess not...was going to the gym twice a day...now back down to once a day...in the morning before work...twice a day got to be too much for me...i was pushing myself too much...walk at work a lot so I guess you just gotta stay active...what is the normal weight loss? never thought about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
