May 10-14 2010 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I'm so glad you're now officially banded. I have lost 15lbs total on my scales anyway since I was banded. I go back to the Dr. on the 1st and I am nervous about him giving me an injection since my port is still got glue all around it.

You use the first code on there- bb code or something like that- Then, when you go to your user cp, and edit signature, you just have to paste the code in there. If there are too many lines, it won't let you do it, so preview it before you save it.

Man- I am having a really hard sticking to this liquid diet!! All I want to do is eat. I am home alone, with a kitchen full of Cookies, ice cream, chicken fingers, fries, and loads of other sweet and fried goodness-

I had to sell my home to be able to afford the band, so I live with my mom. I can't expect everyone in the house to suffer, just because I have to- But it's super hard to be here with all of this food! So far, the only cheat I've done is having a spoon of sugar free ice cream. Not too bad, but I'm only one week down. I have to survive a whole nother week of this!! Plus endure a birthday party, and grocery shopping! I want to go crazy, and eat everything I see.

This is HELL!!!

Im doing good physically. But I know what you mean about wanting to eat. I have to turn away from the TV commercials! I just have another Protein Drink in a flavor I like and everytime I get on the scales I feel great. Try some

sugar free Jello or sugar free pudding.< /p>

Hi Malysa,

My name is Melissa too  I would tell you to throw it all out but you don't really have that option with other family members around. They can really sabotage you whether they mean to or not. My Dad doesn't give a $hit what he eats in front of me and his attitude is one of "well, she's gonna have to learn how to eat around people." I hate that and I'm glad I live with a very supportive husband. He's doing Atkins which is similar in many ways to the high Protein low carbs that we are on. Good luck with your next week and just try to steer clear of the cabinets that you know have your favorite junk in them. That's what I do when I go over to Mom and Dads place. Best of luck,

Mikissa

It would be much easier if I felt any restriction. Today is my one week mark, and I feel like I could eat a normal portion without any problem. I'm supposed to drink 3-4oz of a Protein Shake 3 times a day- I can easily drink almost twice that much without feeling full. Then, I am hungry again in no time- I'm going to call my doctor about it Monday- I shouldn't be able to take this much in at a time- If I wasn't hungry, I wouldn't be having such a hard time with it.

And if I had the will power not to eat on my own, I wouldn't have needed the band to begin with!

Can't wait to get a fill-

I am doing much better now that I feel more like myself again!! honestly, it took about a week and a half to get here..

I am down 12 lbs since banding... I am going in for my post op on the 1st and then back to work (got a little vacation.. lol) can't wait for my first fill on the 14th! I have four incisions and three are pretty much healed.. I still have the steri-strips on the port incision. My clothes are a little looser AND my rings go on without a battle.. I love it!

can't wait to start working out... I am cleared to do the elliptical for 30 minutes a day starting when I go back to work... I've been walking every night and am up to 1 mile and making it in to a family thing! :w00t:

can't wait to hear how everyone is doing!

I am down 17 lbs in a little over 2 weeks. My doc said I could start solids 10 days from my last appointment which is today. I had a little grilled chicken and it seemed to go down just fine. So far no problems with any food. Of course, I don't have any restriction yet but I'll get my first fill in 2 weeks.

Well...I guess my dr. is pretty conservative. I just moved to mushies, and am on them for 2 weeks then soft foods. I am down 25 from before pre-op diet, and around 15 since surgery on the 13th. I am glad to hear everyone is doing so well.

I got my first fill yesterday. 2cc in a 10cc band. The injection itself was virtually painless as they use local anesthetic first. But trying to sip the 3 cups of Water afterwords...at first if felt like I had swallowed a big baseball my esophagus hurt!!! Water went down fine but I had alot of air that wanted to come up. It got a little easier by the time I made it to the third cup of water (45 minutes later). I couldn't even drink my Protein Shakes yesterday I just didn't feel hungry!!! Today it's a little better occassionally throughout the day I will have that "stuck baseball" feeling again and it hurts!!!! I have to "burp myself" and the pain goes away. I hope this is not going to be a lifelong thing! Tomorrow I am supposed to be able to start eating for the first time since April 26th! I am a little leary but am looking forward to trying some blended fat free refried Beans and salsa!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
