What a bunch of garbage, since when is it not okay to be a patriotic American?

Administrators at a California high school sent five students home on Wednesday after they refused to remove their American flag T-shirts and bandannas -- garments the school officials deemed "incendiary" on Cinco de Mayo.

The five teens were sitting at a table outside Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., on Wednesday morning when Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez asked two of them to remove their American flag bandannas, the Morgan Hill Times reported. The boys told the newspaper they complied, but were asked to accompany Rodriguez to the principal's office.

The five students -- Daniel Galli, Austin Carvalho, Matt Dariano, Dominic Maciel and Clayton Howard -- were then told they must turn their T-shirts inside-out or be sent home, though it would not be considered a suspension. Rodriguez told the students he did not want any fights to break out between Mexican-American students celebrating their heritage and those wearing American flags.

"They said we were starting a fight," Dariano told the newspaper. "We were fuel to the fire."

The boys told Rodriguez and Principal Nick Boden that turning their shirts inside-out was disrespectful, so their parents decided to take them home, the newspaper reports.

I think most people would agree we need more enforcement of the border and a more expeditious approval of work visas. Twelve hundred troops added to the current 20,000 border patrol agents isn't going to do the trick and $500M won't go far. So clearly we need Congress to act quickly pass a comprehensive plan.

The more controversial issue is what to do with the 12 million folks already here illegally. Should we pay the estimated $200 billion needed to deport them all or offer some sort of amnesty program? If deportation is the answer how do you envision this taking place?

Just to play devil's advocate what would the Libertarian take be on government mandates that prevent employers from hiring the work force they need for their businesses? Wouldn't free trade be better served if businesses could hire who they want without burdensome rules, regulations and paperwork?

I'd bite, but unfortunately I don't consider myself a libertarian. While I am for minimal government I do understand the need for some government regulation. Though cleos mom would have you believe I want total anarchy, I and probably most Americans see the need for some government regulation, while still keeping it minimalist in nature.

As for the 12 million illegals here already, I think the sanctions on business, and assuring they receive the absolute minimum support from the government and tax payer money, will lead many of them to leave the country. If this isn't the land of the free handouts many of them will have no desire to be here. Especially if they know they can't work and earn any money.

Because discrimination based on gender is also a protected class in the civil rights bill.

So if the women of color thread was racist then that makes the men's room and powder room sexist - which is discrimination based on gender.

I agree. I believe it all boils down to the immigration issue. Many are here because they gave birht on American soil. These babies are being raised by parents who did not work to get here. They aren't patriotic. I know may hispanics whos ancestors erned their way here going throught the proper chanels. They are proud Americans and are often very resentful against the sneaky ones.
