My Surgery went well I am feeling pretty good. Slight pain when I get up but nothing to unbearable. It really wasn't to bad I was in the hospital about 8 hours total yesterday. I'm sure you will all do great. I just thought I would update everyone I got 5 small incisions. Good luck to you all. :Dancing_biggrin:

Hey, was banded on June 1st. The recovery seems to be going slow, but much better today. My left side continues to be sore and has the stinging/pulling feeling. My nurse assurems me that this is because they had to do lots of retracting during surgery I am assuming for the port as well. I was in hopes to return to work monday but not so sure now. Today I woke up with my stomach growling. I am hungry and sick of Protein. I need variety. Can anyone help out there? I also am not able to sleep on my side or flat on my back, sleeping propped up and alone in bed has been the preference. I too had 5 incisions. I am walking walking as much as I can, the gas build up in my shoulders and back kind of got bad the first 24-36 hours. I still am pretty gassy and using gas strips to help with that.

I done 2 Protein Shakes a day, to get a total of 60 grams, the rest of the time i drank low cal gatorade, broth, Water with crystal light. I didn't not loose a lot on my liquid diet either. I actually think I got to the point were I was retaining water, so a couple days before surgery I took a water pill and omg, Lost like 2 pounds in one setting! LOL, but the liquid diet is to shrink the liver an nothing else. Hang in there. I am currently sick of proteing and looking for variety.

Hello everyone! I am new here and wanted to introduce myself. I was banded today and actually feel pretty good! I have pain in my left shoulder but the nurse at the Same Day Surgery Center where I had my surgery warned me of this. I have some "discomfort" in my ab area...mainly the area of the port...but overall, I feel pretty good. I have been drinking the 4 - 8 ounces every hour as instructed so I think staying hydrated has a lot to do with that. I am very excited about the new journey and feel that for the first time in my life, I am actually going to succeed at losing weight and keeping it off! I went from 220.2 at my first appt with my surgeon to 216 before surgery this morning. I just hope this really does control the hunger!!!

Hi,

I had surgery on 6/1. The surgery went great--and the first day home was fine, but I had a little bit of a rough time after that. I had a hard time sleeping for some reason(probably couldn't get comfortable) and either because of that, or because the fates weren't smiling at me--ended up with a terrible Migraine Thursday morning. I was vomiting quite a bit and ended up at the ER. They admitted me because I was dehydrated and to try to get rid of my headache. Luckily, my band didn't slip!

I came home one day later and was finally able to sleep well last night. I feel pretty good--except for the pain in my lower stomach. It's lower than the port site sitches, and it's painful when I move, but once I'm settled, it's okay. I feels totally like the pain I had following my c-sections.

I'm scheduled to go back to work Monday, so hoping to bounce back after these next two days. I am taking in liquids just fine--yesterday blended some cottage cheese w/a little milk, and it was nice to have something savory for a change.

I am still 100% happy that I've had the surgery--and just considering this a small setback on my way to a new life!

Good luck to all of you~

I was banded on June 3rd. So far, so good. I'm not hungry at all. I drink a lot of Water. I'm now off Clear Liquids, and looking forward to some applesauce and sugar free pudding.< /p>

The pain isn't too bad, just when I get up from sitting or getting down to a sitting position.

I'm not sleeping well either. I've always slept on my stomach, can't do that for awhile.

Overall... VERY happy I did this, and just taking one day at a time.

I'm back home today after having surgery yesterday. The 3 hour drive home about did me in. Overall, I am doing okay. I can tell when 4 hours has passed without looking at the clock because my pain meds are wearing off. But, I must say that this laproscopic procedure was far less painful than my previous one. This afternoon I am having shoulder pains from the gas, but they are tolerable. I bought some of the Gas-X strips and have been using those. I have been walking and the gas is passing so hopefully I will feel better soon. I have been having some nausea even with the Scoplamine patch on, but I think that this may be from the gas as well. Warm fluids seem to ease my stomach so I've been sipping on those. It takes awhile for me to get my shake down. So I feel like I am drinking all the time between trying to get my Protein and my Water intake in. I hope all of those that have had surgery are doing well and good luck to those coming up.

Sandy

So sorry that you had such a rough time. I'm glad that you are feeling better now though. Yes, it is just a small setback. That is what I keep telling myself. This pain and suffering will all be over with soon and will be so worth it in the end.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
