OK now what do I do with all these clothes?

Recommended Posts

So I'm on Spring Break and spent most of the day trying on stuff and weeding out stuff. I have moved from a 3X or 24 to a L on top and a 16 or 18 on the bottom--I am bying much less while I transition from size to size. Meanwhile I have wonderful, beautiful clothing that has to go. Formal wear, resort wear, casual professional wear, good brands like CJ Banks, Coldwater Creek, etc. Do I size lot them and put them on ebay, separate one item aat a time on ebay...really I just want to give them a good home--if I give them to sis she won't wear most of it, Mom won't either.

So what do you guys do?

You can donate, sell or pass them on to other bandsters who might be needing smaller sizes, than what they currently wear, in the near future!

At my surgeons office, we have a clothing exchange. Is there something like that in your office maybe? Or maybe you could suggest one??

Whatever you do with them, get rid of them! You don't need them anymore!!! Whoopee!!!!!!!

Good Will will give you a statement for your donations so you can deduct the gift on your taxes.

I'm donating mine. I've done EBay before, but it takes a lot of time and effort. I find its easier to just donate and take the tax deduction. But, if you have the time, you can make some money on EBay and then use that to buy some clothes in smaller sizes. You make the most money by listing each item separately, but obviously it is a lot faster/easier to list it as a lot.

Start a club that collects them and sends them out to all past banders. I had to have mine removed and have gained 1/2 my weight back. So.... All those fat clothes I never thought I would need again, are now in need.

Thanks for the suggestions...I may try a combo of all of them! Except for the burn--that pile I just threw out since it is trash night!

Formal wear on ebay

Lots of like minded things (common size and brand) freecycle, craigslist or this board if people will pay for shipping

Things I think my sis or mom would wear I will give to them

Anything that is left I'll drop at Goodwill or Amvets

Thanks, all this smaller sizes stuff is new to me and I am a clothes horse!

If you have business appropriate attire, please consider a group like Dress for Success.

Home - Dress for Success

It gives women who are trying to re-enter the workforce clothing they can use to go on job interviews. They always need things of all sizes.

Congrats on your loss so far!

Great Idea, now to find something in my area (near Buffalo, NY) for that!

Most of mine went to a local consignment shop to help pay for new, smaller clothes. The rest went to Goodwill. I also went from a 3X to a L/XL. It's a great feeling, but boy was I panicking 2 weeks ago when I realized I had 1 pair of shorts (they may be too big - haven't tried them on yet) and 2 lawnmowing T-shirts - that was it!

What my old items sold for allowed me to buy 3 crops, 2 new pjs, 2 pairs of shoes (even my shoes were too big). 2 coats for spring, and about 12 tops. I bought some consignment items but have really been price shopping to get the most for my money by taking advantage of the sales in the stores. Like you, I don't want to invest a lot of money in my clothes at this point, but don't want to wear the same thing every day either.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
