Hi everyone, I just had the lap band surgery on 3/24/10.

Including the weight I loss during the month of "pre-op" and the weight I've lost in the last two weeks, I'm already down 14 lbs and soooo excited.

I haven't had my first "fill" yet and am a bit nervous. I go in on April 22nd to see how that goes.

One thing I noticed, I didn't quite make it through the "puree" only stage easily.

But, not too bad, I'm doing a Protein shake in the morning, a yogurt or Soup or rice pudding or cottage cheese for lunch and then having a "sensible" dinner.

Last night I had 2 oz of curry chicken with coconut and sliced almonds with a tiny side salad.

But I am still finding myself crazy hungry at night, that's when I struggle.

Seems I do so well during the day, but at night I'm fighting myself not to nibble. Any suggestions?

Hello...also from Oregon

Will find out on Monday if my surgeon can do a Lap-Band after starting and then cancelling the gastric bypass last week due to finding diabetic cirrhosis on my liver.

Let me know how you are doing ... have you noticed any diffierence in "fullness" since before surgery even without your first fill? I was so set on bypass that now I am trying to learn all I can about the band.

Best to you, Lilhoot:thumbup:

I actually do feel more "fullness" even without the fill, but I get hungry more often. I am anxious for my first fill though, to really begin to feel the difference.

Yesterday was the first day we ate out at a resturant since my surgery. We had Chinese food. The rice was a little hard to eat but I enjoyed a little egg flower Soup and some Kung Pao chicken.

Took more than 3/4ths of it home, then shared it with my husband for dinner again later.

Probably not the "wisest" choice of food, but eating in moderation is the key.

Since the surgery, I've already lost about 8lbs in the last 3 weeks. I have my first 'fill' on the 22nd of April.

I was able to have the Lap Banding done on 4/19 and am doing well...sore and stiff, but not as painful as yesterday. I am able to get all the fluids down and Protein (drink 2 Protein Shakes from costco with 30gm EACH and 11 oz each)...I feel comfortable eating a whole package of cream of wheat, a 6 oz yogurt, etc so don't feel any restriction or swelling restriction yet....I'm trying to limit the quantity so I don't stretch out the pouch....my surgeon keeps on the "slip and slide" yogurt, puddings, all liquids, cream Soups, etc only for the first week and then advances to "regular" foods and I'm afraid I'll stretch the pouch out before my first fill on May 18. No nausea at all, and am not really hungry. Let me know how you're doing. Carol:thumbup:

Good for you!

I go in tomorrow for my 1 month check up. I'm anxious because since I started eating food i haven't lost any weight. I lost a lot in the first 3 weeks, but none this week at all and I'm nervous.

I have an upper GI tomorrow, then meet the nutrionist and nurse and finally the surgeon. I think I officially get my first "fill" tomorrow.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
