Facebook people...

I am so sorry if I inadvertently deleted you, but I was a bit overzealous in removing 'friends' when I quit playing Mafia Wars. I had over 1300 people I had to remove and may have removed some of you.

If I did and you want to re-friend me, you can find me either with my FB name - Melody Parker Upham - or my e-mail: melody@dmci.net

1,300? I'd say you were a tad overzealous in recruiting.

Come back to Farmville. You don't need so many strangers there

Bob-are you still on that darn farm? lol Luv the ticket by the way :(

Melody-glad to hear you got a slight unfill. If it were me I would prob stay at 6 until after Disney too. It always stinks to get stuck in public.

I'm getting ready to go up to Lake Erie for the weekend. Sunday is my b-day so we are going up and hitting the wineries! So much for a low-cal weekend . Maybe if I go on a "liquid" diet like Bob did, I'll still lose some :frown:. Have a great weekend everyone :biggrin::smile2::biggrin:

Last night my husband sat down next to me on the couch. He said, "you are all bony."

Um, I think that's a compliment right ? Um, Thank You.

Haven't been here in a while. It's a compliment, but...when my husband said the same thing, over time I learned that:

1) it was a compliment

2) he needed time to adjust; he called me his amazing shrinking wife; he said it was like having a new wife every few weeks...

Hi to everyone else on this thread. It's great to read up on how eveyone is doing!

So with my unfill taking me to 6cc's in my 12cc Realize band, I'm now able to eat anything I want and I don't feel any restriction. I'm ok with that though because I've come to terms with the fact that, at least for me, the band's job will not be to help me lose weight so much as it will keep me from going completely overboard and pigging out the way I did pre-band.

Instead of fish for dinner last night, I realized I had a pack of wings in the fridge that had to be cooked. So I did buffalo wings for dinner. Yeah...I was so knocked out that I could even eat them that I over did it. I think I ate 7 or 8 wings. I don't feel too bad though because I managed to keep my carbs for the day below 30gm and prior to the wings my calories were only sitting at about 700.

Oh and Bob...I'm not coming back to Farmville. It wasn't until a week after I gave up Mafia that I realized the stupid game had been stressing me out.

Well, it's a very cool morning here. I actually had to close the windows, turn off the fans and put on long pants! So I think I'll clean house and then if I still have the energy will whip up a baby quilt for one of my husband's co-workers.

Have a good one y'all!

Melody

Coming from the guy who didn't say anything for 80 pounds (Was it 80?) I think it was a compliment.

Yes, it was 91 lbs. before he said anything at all. I'm taking anything said as a compliment!

I have a spot on my butt that is now "bony" and hurts when I sit for long, I'm constantly shifting around.....is this what it's like for "normal people"?? I still have padding every where else. How can I possibly have a bony spot in the one and only spot I need a cushion????

Three days 'til fill!! Woohoo (and yet petrified at the same time!) I've been in Memphis for the last day and a half. It was a blast and we walked until we almost died so good exercise (in the 100+ degree swelteringly humid weather). But we also ate, and ate, and ate....Sooo...I'm not weighing until Monday and then only so I'll be prepared for the docs office on Tuesday so I don't break down and sob if it's not decent.

Have a lovely weekend and GO TEAM BAND!!!! Rah rah rah! (hey, so Bob didn't end up requiring cheerleaders but I'm determined to get it out somewhere)

Its official, I have lost my mind.

I do things to make extra money and I consider these things "found" money that can be spent (or wasted) anyway I want. I sell insurance, I am a car buying consultant, etc to make this extra money. Well yesterday I had a garage sale of stuff that has been left in my rent houses and made $265. So my husband suggested we could go stay in Dallas at a hotel and eat out and the first thing that came to my mind was "I cant I have to work out in the morning!" and second was "I could spend that money on new clothes instead of a hotel room"

Did they band my brain? Oh well, workout complete, off to Dallas for some new clothes.

Go to Shreveport; triple your money and do all of the above.

Hey, all! I'm SORELY behind on reading this thread, so I apologize for not knowing what's up in y'all's lives. My life is a bit more relaxing as of today, as my work schedule lightens a bit in August. I'm in "Ahhh!" mode. I had my 5th fill last Thursday (just a half-cc), to put me at 6.5 ccs in a 10 cc band. My doc was a bit hesitant to give me a fill, because he said I'm doing just fine at 6 months out with just about 50% of my EBW gone, but I told him I felt like I needed some oomph, with my last fill being 10 weeks ago, and some plateaus in that time.

Some fat pics were shared by my cousin, and WOW! Do I feel glad to be at 158 and not 197 anymore! OMDog, it's really an eye opener to think back how it felt all those pounds ago. I think I had a gradual awakening to how big I was, and it's nice to see myself spiraling in the opposite direction.

One interesting thing my doctor said is that he believes the band settles differently on the stomachs of SILS patients, and that he sees a better loss-rate with us. Is anyone else here a SILS (Single-Incision Laparoscopic Surgery) patient? Would be interesting to see if it's a trend elsewhere. [Disclaimer: I do NOT think I have a fantastic rate of loss. I just think I have a steady rate of loss. I know there are others here who have lost weight SO much quicker. For me, I just feel more comfortable with my rate. I'm a slow-and-steady, sneak-up-on-the-sweet-spot kinda girl.)

AHHH!!!! Back for a refill tomorrow...and nervous as all get out. I say I'll stay on liquids for, oh 12 months or so but we'll see

Jacki-as long as you are happy with your progress nothing else matters right? Congrats on your success so far!

Christie-Congrats and fingers crossed for you! I noticed just this weekend that it is much more uncomfortable to sit now. Hmmm guess I'll take it over the cushioned bottom (although it's kinda flat now...still wide, just flat...it has deflated)

Jackie-I have 2 incisions, but also healed very quickly. You are doing great!

Melody-good to hear that your unfill has helped, but yet you still have at least a little restriction. Maybe you are just one of those people that needs to get like .1 or .2 at each fill. Good luck to you!

HB-compliment...he noticed something, and if he's anything like my husband that is a compliment.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
