I went for my last appt. before surgery today. They did blood work, EKG, anestesia consult, and other stuff. It's all done now. May 4 is just a few days away. I am planning on leaving the hospital the same day as surgery. There's just nothing like sleeping in your own bed!

Hi! I am wondering if there is anyone that has a May date set. I know my surgery should be in May but no set date.

OMG! I am also from West Columbia. It really is a small world. I am having my surgery on May 3rd with Dr. Hollis from True Results in Houston. Lets keep in touch!

Hi everyone! I have a May 18th band date! I want to echo what others have said and say that I am excited and nervous. I am afraid of failing, of getting "stuck", of complications, etc. On the other side, I am excited that this tool will help me on my life-long struggle with weight. I met with the psychologist at the surgeon's office and he said, based on my psychological profile, that I have a "high potential" that this surgery will be very effective. That definitely increased my confidence level! Thank you for all your support and stories!

 Katie

I am an x-ray tech and Fluoroscopy is a method used to see the port. It is the use of live x-rays. It aides the dr. so as to not poke you and miss. With Fluoroscopy, they can see right where the opening of the port is.The liquid used to fill the band is usually saline. Good luck.

Just wanted to join the parade. My date is May 19th. I'm getting banded at Beth Israel in Boston, MA by Dr. Schneider. Any other Massachusetts folks with a May date out there?

I'm excited for everyone, and also a bit anxious for myself. Which I suppose is normal. The reality really hits you once you have a date, eh?

Good luck all and keep updating this thread so we can see how those of you with early May dates are doing post-surgery. Also any tips/encouragement on sticking to the pre-op diet are always welcome as well. Mine starts May 4th....

Al

Oh, almost forgot - I'm the other guy in this thread apparently, so Biker Jon, you are not alone!

I am glad to be on a coed forum here, though I do have to say that the guys would probably go with something like "May Marauders". I bet I can count on one hand the number of times Biker Jon and I have said the word "Magificents!" in our lifetimes...:-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
