1. throbbing pain 2. not losing any more weight

Recommended Posts

Hello. So several things are going on. I had the Lap-band procedure on July 23,2009, almost 7 months ago, and I have lost 43 pounds. I have a healthier lifestyle and go to the gym 4 times a week. The problem is, I haven't lost a single pund since November! I went back to my surgeon in November and had the band tightened(not sure if that was a good idea) I told him the wieght was starting to come off VERY SLOWLY, he said it was normal and that I have platoed and now it was going to be inches I was going to start losing. To be quite honest, I haven't noticed that either. I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong or what I should do now? My next issue now is that for the last 3 days I have been having throbbing pain right where the lap-band is located. I notice it right after I eat. The pain is getting worse.. Has anyone else experienced that same pain?

I had a very similar experience--I went back to my surgeon and found that my band was too tight, which had caused my pouch to stretch and become inflamed. I say get in to see your doctor ASAP. With an unfill, my pain went away immediately, and the inflammation and stretching corrected itself within a month. I'm now working my way back to restriction. Please don't wait to see your doc!

I have to second Val's oppinion; get to you doc asap about the pain!

As far as plateauing... How much more do you have to lose? It certainly gets tougher as you approach goal. Have you tried keeping a food and exercise journal? It's possible you are consuming as many calories as you are burning, and therefore not losing weight anymore. Decrease your cals or up your exercise if that's the case. Another possibility is that your body is getting too little calories and goes into starvation mode. Been there :-( Not healthly, and no weightloss regardless of time at the gym... Sounds weird, but if that's the case, you have to eat more to lose more.

Good luck to you! I hope you get these issues worked out and get back to losing soon!

yes you should go back to your doctor. I had a pain where my tubing area is and it turned out i needed the tubing to be moved because it was too close to my skin because I lost so much fat around my stomach area. I had a slight very small 30 second pain one day in my band area a week before my doc appointment and he decided to just give me a full check up and he found a teeny tiny bit of band erosion.

Having said that its better to be safe then sorry so see your doctor as the pain could be anything. Are you maybe eating too much food each meal? Are you making sure to eat slowly for 30 minutes?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
