I am looking to undergo lap band surgery. I have a BMI of 31. I have medicare and medicaid will they cover my surgery with a bmi of 31? I have arthritus in my back with herniated discs and neck paint knee pain and joint problems.

So my questions are:

Will medicare and and medicaid cover me?

Will I qualify for lapband surgery with a bmi of 31?

I have medicare. Even though they covered me they didn't actually pay for much of the surgery. I payed mostly out of pocket. I believe your BMI needs to be atleast 35. Here is an article on it.
