PLEASE Tell me I'm being Paranoid!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok background on me! I had surgery July 20th, 2009. I've lost 58 so far. Yay me. Well I found out in November that I had a flipped port. My first fill in August was difficult but got it in fine once he found it in my fat hah.

When I found out my port had flipped I went back to the doctors office (was at the hosp next door for fill) and they said "Do you not remember it hurting? Nothing?" And after much thought I said I vaguely recalled leaning over out of the computer chair about a month before (oct) and it hurt for a second but it was up under my breast so I thought "well my port's down by my belly button so that wasn't it." And they said "Nope, that was it."

Had my port revision on New Years eve so as of an hour and 17 minutes ago it's been a week since.

Now, all has been going well and had my port fixed (it was also leaky) and just a bit ago I was feeling hungry so I got up off the couch got something to nibble and sat back down. I took a bite, chewed and swallowed and went to take another bite when I had this SHARP pain right under my left breast (where my bra sits). Only the once and only for a half a second.

So I'm really freaking out now (for an hour now) thinking that I've flipped my port again! He told me that it should NOT come undone again because he sutured it on the top and bottom with that mesh they use to fix hernias. I guess the put the mesh on sutured that, then attached my port to that? And now I'm well, freaking out. It's 8 hours until the clinic opens and I'm thinking will they really be able to tell from one pain if it flipped?

Will I have to wait 6 weeks until fill time?

Could it have been what I was eating? He put 3cc's in last week so maybe the moment that bite passed the band it hurt? I've never had that before so could that be it?

So I beg of you (if you finished this NOVEL) more experienced bander am I flipped? Paranoid? or what?

HELP!

It was probably just the bite of food that went down when something goes down wrong for me i get the sharp pain right under my bra too.

The more and more I think about it I think that's what it was. That the bite was just a bit too big and maybe I didn't chew as properly as I thought.

Thanks for letting me know you have that too! Here's hoping I was just freaking out!

I would be surprised if you could flip a port because of something you ate. Just too big of a bite most likely. Some have said they have instant chest pain if they take too big of a bite. Yours may just settle in that spot. I wouldn't worry about it - especially if you don't have any more pain.

My port flipped and i had it replaced and they did it under local anesthesia and sedatives....my doctor actually gave me a fill under the local after he replaced it.....as long as nothing is wrong with your band you should be able to have it filled anytime!!!!

Could have been what you ate and it could have been just a little tug on your stitches. It happens from time to time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
