Do u feel the band when you move around?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 12/22/09

So I'm not even 2 weeks post op but when I move or bend or something like that I can feel the band! I feel it pull a little so I stop that movement right away. I'm not doing yoga or nothing, but I notice at times I can actually feel it. It feels a little like something is scratching in the inside. Is this normal? I don't feel the port from the inside out but I do the band.

Welcome.

You are probably feeling the pull of the sutures where the port is attached to your ab muscle. I know I did and it lasted for a good 4-5 weeks before that feeling went away.

I know the general area of my port, but I really can't feel it.. the surgeon must have really implanted it deep under my fat!!

I felt the pull also for a few weeks and it went away. I can really feel my port now. You can actually see it sticking out when I lay down. Makes it easier for the doctor to stick the needle in. Yeah!

I'm glad you asked this question. I was banded on 12/15/09. I feel like something is "rolling" (for lack of a better description) when I bend over I was wondering if what I am feeling is normal.

I felt mine. Especially the tubing, it felt "snakey". I asked my doc about it at the first check up and he told me eventually scar tissue would form around the band, tubing and port. So far it seems to be true. I do not notice the feelings of movment inside me anymore.

Thanks all! I was getting worried.

The pain is under my left breast to below my rib cage. And yeah, it feels like pulling. It's no where near my port so thats where my concern was.

Sometimes I run my hand along my ribs under the breast and it hurts to even touch. Weird.

I'll be patient (or at least try to be)

For several weeks following surgery I felt that something was "different" inside me, but just today I was thinking that I don't feel anything now.. feels just like a part of me, the only thing that feels different is I can now move around easier, and feel more limber after losing 45lbs! I am looking forward to feeling even better as the pounds drop!

Wow, I never felt anything except some muscle pain where the port was stitched on. But, even that is feeling much better now that I'm a couple weeks out.

I cannot feel my port either. The only thing I feel when I bend over is my largest incision stretching. YUCK!

I will find out where my port is tomorrow when I go to my follow up!

I am about 6 months post-op and sometimes I do feel like the band is catching on or at least touching my lowest left rib. I also feel it sometimes when I lay on that spot to sleep. It's very strange.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
