PLease HELP, I've gained almost all my weight back

Recommended Posts

Been MIA for a while, I"ll try not to make this too long. Had my surgery April 2008, so coming up on two years this april. I started out at 278, got down to 248, and I am currently at 264, I've had 3 fills, def. noticed a difference after the third fill which was beginning of November, I'm going back Jan. 14, because I feel restriction, but it's more like onlt if I eat too fast or don't chew enough, I don't know if I'm feeling "full" if that make sense? For those of you that have lost a good amount of weight, and feel like you have good restriction, could you eat a 6" turkey sub from subway? Because I can, so do I have good restriction? This is where I am so confused bc my doc says thats ok and thats an ok food choice. He's says he's nt gng to fill me to where I can only eat a few bites aalso have to make better food choices. I GET THAT! But I might of as well of joined weight watchers then! I did the bad so that I could still eat what I wanted in moderation, even in bite size portions, am I totally off base here? Because if I am someone put me in my place. I know I have to make good food choices, but i wanna be able to indulge a little bit, thats why i didn't do bypass. I feel like someone who has had great success with that bad and who has good restriction, would tell me no way in hell could they eat a 6" subway sub. I'm getting so frustrated I've about given up. I have a very physically demanding job 40 hours a week and that doesn't even make a difference, i don't get it. Please someone help me I'm desperate here. Thanks guys....

Absolutely ditto to what Taninivver said! NO WAY! You definitely need more restriction. I'd be lucky to get to eat all the meat, but the bread....there's just no way. I wish you luck and hope that your dr. will help you with a good fill. Don't give up! You made this huge life-changing choice to have the band....don't let it go! Follow through and demand to be tighter! But even tight, you have to make good choices the majority of the time! Ice cream will slide through the tightest band....but you have to choice to not eat much of it, if any at all. You can do it...hang in there!

I've got perfect restriction and can still eat everything, including bread. I can eat 1- 1 1/2C at a time, but am satisfied with about 3/4 C per meal. I'm guessing a 6" sub would be more volume than that, so I'll agree that your restriction isn't tight enough yet. Remember though it's not about how much you can eat, but rather how little you need to eat to stay satisfied between meals. If you're eating until you're 'full' then you're overeating. Best wishes! -BG

No way could I eat bread with good restriction. But you need to realize that we may have different bands or different sizes. Or even different amounts in the same type band, or you may have less fat around your stomach than I do. Unfortunetly or fortunetly we are all different and that includes our restriction. Maybe if you stopped eating the bread and had just the Protein, plus added Protein you would loose without another fill? I can loose no matter what I eat as long as I have good restriction BUT I love meat! I would rather have a steak or pork chop than the bread! All I am trying to say is maybe since the doc is not cooperating with you that you try cutting out bread for awhile and increase your protein and see what happens. Also, in my opinion, your doc should be listening to you and if you are doing what he says then he needs to have you see the NUT. Maybe they can guide you better?

Keep us posted as to what he says next time you go in.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
