Being Stuck = Restriction?
hey listen, I had a "stuck" issue and it caused a slip in the band. be careful. You dont ever want to vomit if you can help it. for me stuck is a pain in the chest rib cage area. PB is one thing but a violent upward thrust from your stomach-(vomiting) is very very bad. It didnt take much for this band to slip.

I'm a Lap Band failure
How much are you eating? You should only eat 10-14 ounces per meal. If you can eat alot more than this it may be fill related. it took me for ever to find my proper fill. just dont overfill it - i did that too so they emptied it and I'm starting the fill process over.

I want 4-5cc at once. will anyones Dr. do that for them?

Dealing with a setback...
I recently had an unfill. I understand how you feel. My doc wont add more than 1cc at a time. Its very frustrating. I am at 5cc and have a 14cc band. I need to be around 11cc. at his rate It will be 4 months before I even feel some restriction again. I am thinking about changing doctors but I dont know if there is anyone around me and if so are they willing to give me a proper fill? I hope you could update your status because i'm very curious to how your new doc responds to your request. I'm very frustrated at this point... thanks

Swollen or Slipped Lap Band??
I had a slip, I wasnt able to keep fluid or solid down. I would suggest staying on liquids until you see your doctor. If you throw up water thats a sure sign you slipped. good luck

I want 4-5cc at once. will anyones Dr. do that for them?
I had my band unfilled. I am in the process of having fills again. does anybody have a doctor that will just fill it? I know I get restriction at 9.5-10cc. My office only gives .5cc-1cc at a time. Its expensive and time consuming. Just curious to know if anyone gets 3-4 cc fills at once. I live near buffalo NY and can travel to get it done if its a reasonable distance from me. Thanks

I PROLAPSED!... Beware!!! Vomiting and PB Beware!
I didnt have issues with vomiting until I moved from 10cc to 11cc. I should have realized it was too tight but instead I thought I wasnt chewing well enough and eating too fast. I went about 4 weeks after that fill with out vomiting so I thought it was ok. a few weeks before my regular dr appt I had a vomiting session. I got something stuck pretty bad. it finally came up and I thought everything was ok but for the next few weeks I kept having mild PB-(vomiting). I knew I had an appt coming up so I dealt with it.(mistake). well I'm sure the damage happen when I vomited pretty hard the first time. It was worse than any other stuck episode. long story short 2 weeks.

ok so they unfilled me
Ok as I stated in my other topic I had a prolapse. they unfilled me and now I have zero restriction. My question is does any body's doctors office give you a large fill at once? My office will only give me 1cc at most at a time. This is frustrating and expensive. I pay my insurance copay each time and its an all day affair. I spend most of the day dealing with the office visit and I have to miss work. i currently have 5.5 cc in my band. at the time of the problem I had 11 cc. Are there any doctors that will give you a 3-4cc fill at once? Its going to take me 6 months to get back to restriction. I am just wondering if its my office that is so slow at giving fills and I cant help but wonder if they may be doing it for extra insurance payments. I just hate all the needle sticks and the chance of messing up the port area with unneeded fills if its not necessary. thanks for any input.

I PROLAPSED!... Beware!!! Vomiting and PB Beware!
Ok, so I am 10 months out. I have lost 80 pounds and now I have the beginning of what looks to be a prolapse. I went to the office last week and thought i needed a little more fluid added because I was hungry often. the nurse really couldnt understand how i could be having hunger issues with 11 cc in my 14cc band. she sent me for a swallow test right away.well the xrays showed i was in the early stages of a prolapse. i had all but 5cc taken out of my band so things could settle. Ok heres my advise.... If you are having any issues such as PB or mild vomiting you need too say something. I ignored it. I also ignored the heart burn. Now I am dealing with an unfill and possibly worse. If this dosent settle I have to have the band removed. NOW, for questions I have.... Has this happen to any one reading this and if so what was your outcome. How did the doctors office handle your situation? How long did it take to get your fills back to restriction? Thanks. I have had this for 11 months and it has worked wonderful for me. I just wish I would have realized I was abusing it.... If you are reading this PLEASE be aware a prolapse can happen with minimal vomiting or PB's.

Should I get another fill?
I have a 14cc band and i currently have 10.5 cc in it. sometimes I feel good restriction and sometimes I don't. I'm not sure why. for me personally 7.2 cc was like I didnt have a band. I could eat as much and as fast as I wanted. now I have to eat slow and much much smaller portions. I'd say you need a fill.
-
Are you sticking with eating nothing larger than a pencil eraser?
I take some what normal size bites. Since my last fill I now have to make sure I chew chew chew...If I dont it gets stuck. I also cant eat bread anymore. This is a first because for the 4 months post op I have been able too eat everything. You will know if its too big or you didnt chew enough....trust me you will know...

ok so if this is what full feels like it sucks......
I'm still fighting with the idea of when I am full. I ate lunch and everything went down fine, I didn't feel full but usually I don't. I ate dinner tonight and now I feel this terrible lump. I'm not throwing up and I definitely refuse to eat any more so is this full? it sucks if it is. I am making these lovely sounds coming up from my throat. I think I might have like a partial stuck. is that possible? some things I eat and it goes down like nothing and I feel hungry real soon after and other times I eat and i get this lump that stays with me for a while. Please tell me your thoughts. I have another fill coming up and I'm not sure if I need one or not. some foods yes....others no.... I can still eat 2-3 cups at each meal. Also I haven't lost any weight in over a month. I am still on the treadmill for 30-60 minutes a day. I am eating the way I am supposed to I think..... breakfast I have either 2 eggs or yogurt with fresh fruit and granola added. for lunch today I ate (banded wende's) meatball meal in the crockpot with green beans.--went down like nothing. for dinner tonight was chicken breast....couldn't finish the 3rd bite. Last night was a small steak...same thing I couldnt finish it. please give me your thoughts....even meal ideas if you want. thanks

Average Amount for Restriction in a 14cc band?
I have a 14 cc band with 8cc. I can honestly say I don't feel great restriction but I do feel some. I am usually hungry after 2 hours and ready to eat again. I am still losing so the band appears to loosen up between fills.(month) It was explained to me that their is fat in between your band and the stomach and as you lose weight it will loosen up, so early on you need less fluid to feel restriction. Good luck!

Is it just me? please help! (4th month.)
thanks everyone, Its good information for me to think about.

Is it just me? please help! (4th month.)
Hey, was wondering if its just me, Here's the deal. I have a 14cc band. I currently have 8cc in it. a few months ago i used to have issues eating. I think at that time I had 6cc in it. I would have the stuck feeling, pressure in my chest, and sometimes I'd throw up. Now I have 8cc and I don't seem to ever feel that way. I can eat pretty much anything without that happening. Why doesnt that happen anymore? my doctor is not concerned he says I just have not hit the right restriction yet. well that doesn't make sense, it was tight now its not. I don't over eat but I eat more than the amount people talk about. I know when I go to the doc he pulls out the amount that was put in previously so its not leaking. I still eat chicken, beef, fish and others and it all goes don't like nothing. By know means am I hungry all day or eating massive amounts of food but its just got me wondering. I lose about 1-2 pounds a week and the doc says that's on target. Guess what I am asking is does anyone truly eat just a 1/2 cup of food and find themselves satisfied for 3-4 hours? I can eat a small-medium plate full. I'm not sure what that would measure out to be but its definitely more than 1/2 cup. Oh I can comfortably eat a 12 inch subway "healthy" sub. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks

"That Full Feeling!?!?"
For me full is when I'm just not interested in eating the rest. I wish there was some sort of alarm bell that was going off saying yes your full but for me there isn't. When I find myself "full" it usually means I'm close to being sick. signs for me are hiccups, runny nose, excess saliva and some times pressure in my chest. You have to be on the look out for your own signs. it appears it is different for every one. I have found I can eat more of one thing and less of others. I can still eat more than the 7 oz I've read about and I mentioned it to my doc at fills and she says its because I haven't hit the 'sweet spot" yet. I have had 4 fills. I have a 14cc band and currently have 8cc in it so I should be getting close. Yesterday was my 4th fill so we will see how this feels when I eat solids again. I can tell you before I had my 1st fill I could eat as much as I wanted and it made me very nervous. I had to fight back the urge not to over eat. I actually gained 4 pounds from the mushy transition to my 1st fill. I have learned that with the band I have to be very patient, or maybe it is just my doctor I need to be patient with, but anyway, You'll get there. I started this at 306 pounds and currently weigh 252. I was banded Sept 28, 2010. The day of surgery I weighed 278. Oh and by the way, I fell off the excercising wagon 2 months ago. I have lost 26 pounds since surgery. Imagine how much I would have lost if I would have stuck with the strict exercising program I did before surgery. I plan to start exercising again but its kinda like over eating without the band, I'm having a hard time committing to a program. Good luck to ya and hope this helped.

9cc in Realize band with no restriction
I can understand your worry, All I can say is I went for a month after a fill with no restriction. I had 6 cc. I went to the docs and told him I felt nothing and could eat as much as I wanted so he gave me 1cc add instead of .5cc. well I couldn't believe the difference. When I went back to solids, the first time I ate I ate to fast and for the first time I got sick. I had to now force myself to slow down and chew better. I guess what I am saying is I was thinking the same thing you were and then like magic, It was their. 1cc made the difference, I told myself their was no way 1cc could change anything and it did. I'm confident you'll get it.

HELP ME! I think I puked! or did I?
so is it likely this is caused by eating too fast or not chewing enough? Up until this fill I could eat as much as I wanted and basically as fast as I wanted. I was able to eat at my other meals today without feeling full. I guess I don't feel like I am at the sweet spot because I was hungry all day and couldn't wait for dinner. I start wanting to eat again after about an hour. I don't, but I want too. I have a large band and currently have 7cc in it. Thanks for replying.

2 weeks post op and gaining weight????
I'm not that far ahead of you. I had my surgery sept 28th. I had the same thing happen to me. When I started solids I had a huge appetite and was so worried I broke something.... well I just had my 2nd fill and everything is working fine. Just be patient.

HELP ME! I think I puked! or did I?
Hey everyone, Please help me. I got my 2nd fill the other day and this is the first time I felt any different. Tonight, I ate chicken breast and vegetables. This was the first time I had to stop. I actually had to stop because I began to feel sick. Is this normal? Is that sick feeling what full feels like? I actually had to excuse my self because I thought I was going to puke. I'm not even sure about puking anymore, did I puke? I stood over the toilet and a clear fluid came up. what confuses me is this clear fluid came up so easily. not like puking, ya know when your puking your blood vessels in your face break because of the force. It wasn't like that at all. Next question, since I had this minor discomfort and possible puking, was I stuck? Is that what stuck feels like? I'm so confused please help. Thanks

Dr. Aaron Hoffman - What does the timeline seem to be?
I went to the seminar in mid June, met with the psychiatrist July 7, first official weigh in at the clinic on July 7, Lost the required 15% weight from original weigh in through Aug 4th. I had to lose 15 lbs. Met with Dr Posner Aug 4th. Met with Dr Posner...again on Aug 26th and was given a surgery date. I did all the required things that they asked, ie chest xray, ekg, labs.... had to get final approval from my primary doctor, I had the lap band surgery on sept 28 2010. I have no regrets. since July 7th I have lost 40 pounds. Good luck to you. I hope this helps.

Weird metallic taste in mouth
seriously? no answers? I searched metallic taste and your post came up. I am also experiencing the metallic flavor in my mouth. I had my first fill today.
