  1. Bless you in your journey. This site is supposed to be a nonjudgemental and supportive, and, for the most part it is, however, there are some smug jerks out there.
  2. I was banded on 10/2 and would feel OK in the morning but really tired by the afternoon. It took me about 9 days to overcome the fatigue. It gets better every day.
  3. Dear Cleo's Mom, I did go read further into it and apologize for jumping to conclusions. As I stated earlier, I am a bit crabby and easily put off. So sorry. I realize you are trying to help.
  4. I understand now. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. I've been touchy lately.
  5. Any reason you feel compelled to be rude? I am not moaning and bitching. I asked 2 simple questions. While I appreciate your constructive feedback, you can keep your destructive one liners to yourself.:smile2:
  6. I am 10 days post-op and started mashed/soft diet today. I made meatloaf with lean ground turkey and focused dinner on 3-4 oz of the meat. I had about 2 tablespoons of corn and instant mashed potatoes. I ate slow and chewed very well. My problem is I am still very hungry. I don't want to continue eating and am quite sure I hit my protein quota for the day. How can a satisfy my hunger at this stage? Also, why to I hiccup after I eat and drink one bite, one sip. It's usually only one time and it doesn't hurt or anything. Thanks much.
  7. Sure - Carnation Instant Breakfast with 8oz of milk for 10 days. I alternated between sugar free and regular.
  8. I am up for a challenge. I am going on a cruise with my sister Jan 1 and would love to have 30lb's off by 12/31 - That's 3 pounds a week. I'm going to try.
  9. I'm not an expert by a long shot since I am only 8 days out. However, I am going through peri-menopause and have lost 16.5 pounds with the pre-post-op diets. I do feel better mentally and my hotflashes have actually decreased. Fluid retention is down and skin in clearing up. I'm sure this is a result of decrease in sodium, chocolate, fat and an increase in h20.
  10. Interesting question. I am day 5 postop and noticed my urine smelled like, don't laugh, Cheerios. What's that about?
  11. Anyone experience left lateral rib pain post op? I am actually having a hard time taking a deep breath. Feels like gas, however, GasX has not helped. All started while taking a walk. Feels like a side ache. Any ideas?
  12. Switched to extra strength Tylenol on day 4.
  13. Self respect Respect of others Feeling healthy No longer fatigued Sexy undies Not having to plan my clothes weeks in advance for a night out Shopping in regular sizes Saving money Less gassy (and I'm not even kidding) My husband feeling proud of me Exercising and enjoying it
  14. Best wishes to you! I am recovering quite well and so will you.
  15. I am 3 days post-op and am doing quite well except for diarrhea this afternoon. I am keeping fluids down and am drinking constantly. Anyone else expereince this? Anything to worry about? I am really hungry and am on clear liquids for another 4 days. Malt-O-Meal is calling me!!! I'm fully aware my eating habits will change dramatically. What I'm wondering is I ever be able to eat a piece of pizza, a salad, a burger or anything yummy like this in the future?
  16. I understand. The pre-op I was on for 10 days consisted of Carnation Instant Breakfast with milk. I was totally bound up and had to get some relief with Fleets enemas the night b/4 10/2 surgery. I suspect things will be very sluggish during the clear liquid phase and will start Mirilax today. The narcs will also slow down the digestive center and anesthesia is still clearing. Lots of passive stuff going on in the gut right now. Wishing you well!
  17. I had surgery yesterday, stayed overnight and have done quite well. I am able to manage fluids, walk off the gas and besides a full feeling in my chest and incisional pain I feel quite well actually. I know I am swollen but to gain 9.5 pounds overnight? I did have 4.5 bags of IV fluid and having some difficulty peeing, but wow 9.5 pounds. Anyone else experience this?
  18. This sounds serious and is a definite contraindication. If she will not listen to you, I would play "narc" and call her doctor's office. While they cannot discuss her case with you, there is no reason you cannot express your concern. She could have serious complications including malnutrition and alcohol poisoning. Don't delay.
  19. I am taking a full 4 weeks. I work in a face pace environment and doc concerned about eating and drinking according to plan. I am grateful....
  20. M primary had to sign a form before my 1st appt saying she approved.
  21. Banding will take place 10/2. I am on day 4 of Carnation Instant Breakfast and am doing OK. Whenever my hubbie is eating I take a "whiff' which I find somewhat helpful. It does help to have a good imagination! My stress right now is work. I am on the schedule as FMLA and my co-workers are either worried or nosey about my absence since they keep asking me what the deal is. I am very private about this and have told 2 work friends only. My boss has been distant and called me in on Monday to discuss my ability to "cope" and mentioned my FMLA 3 different times. My work performance is and always has been stellar. I feel picked on and think she is angry that I have not confided in her and am taking time off. Help me sort this out please. I don't want to go into surgery stressed out:crying: Bless you all!
  22. I am scheduled for surgery 10/2 and will begin my liquid diet on Wed. I have been feeling very sensitive and quick to cry the last few days. Not sure if it's nerves or what. Anyone else experience this? My boss called me in to bitch me out today for nonsense issues and kept referring to my FMLA. Is this legal? (she has no idea why I am going to be out) Help me sort this. Thanks friends:scared2:
  23. I do. 10 days of Carnation Instant Breakfast with milk. Nothing else
