  1. I will be banded 10/2 - I realize I will be on clear liquids, full liquids, mushy and eventually real food after a month or so. Can you give me some suggestions to make the mushy stage more tolerable? I am a nurse and just keep thinking about all the pureed food I have fed patients. It used to make me gag. Also, can I get some healthy snack suggestions? Much appreciated Gracie
  2. I am scheduled for banding 2 weeks from today. yea! Yesterday I tried Carnation Instant Breakfast for breakfast and lunch (with half banana). I was starving in the afternoon and ate some pretzels and (I know I know), a few pieces of Dove chocolate. Around 4:30 I started to get overheated, shakey and weak. Thank goodness I was at my nieces home and not driving around. I felt like passing out..... Has anyone had this experience while pre-op prepping? I felt just terrible. I did it to myself, but wow was I ill for 15 minutes or so. I ate something and it passed. I'm really worried about working a busy job on a liquid diet. The bariatric center I use does not allow any solids at all for 10 days pre-op. Poor attempt at a trial that's for sure. Hopefully it will be better when I offically start.
  3. Thank you friends. I have found this forum so helpful. No real need to go to support groups since I have thousands of supporters right here. CIB with milk for 10 days starting Thursday. I can do it!!
  4. I had 25$ copays for 8 mandatory appts. Nurse clinician, MD'sX4, dietician, PT, Nut, psych. No payment beyond this. Seems like double dipping to me.
  5. Anyone? I bought some this week and will begin experimenting. If you have expereince with this cruel cruel diet let me know
  6. Have any of you done the Carnation Instant Breakfast protocol pre-surgery? Pre-op diet consists of 5-6 sugarfree CIB daily for 10 days, nothing else but h20. If anything makes me nervous it's this liquid diet for 10 days while still trying to work a demanding job. Feedback anyone?
  7. Hi Boo's Just got my date of 10/2 today! No time like the present. Wow, coming up fast!
  8. I can't remember my PIN and need to update my tracker. How do you get the current tracker off and start over?:crying:
  9. Fantastic!!!!! Keep it up:thumbup:
  10. So glad you found us. I have found this site to be supportive and friendly. A real sense of belonging. I would like to hear more about your walking program. I too hate the gym, however, I will be forced to go since Il live in Minnesota and our winters can be rough. I will be banded in the next few weeks. See surgeon on the 16th. Keep in touch.
  11. Will meet with surgeon on Wednesday and get a surgery date at that time. I have read many of the "surgery day" stories and am suddenly freaked out. I am no stranger to the medical world since I an an RN, but holy cow.....feel like I'm in for a rough few days. Anyone out there with a tolerable 24 hours post-op?
  12. What I don't understand is if you are eating less, even if it is the same type of food, why can't you lose? Sorry for the ignorance.
  13. I was required to have all appts (8 total), b/4 I can even meet the surgeon. In a holding pattern waiting on insurance.
  14. What exactly is Bandster Hell? Does not sound pleasant  Is it possible to lose weight before fills:blink:
  15. Welcome Tyler. Man we are all in this together:thumbup:
  16. Prilosec OTC - great stuff
  17. The weekend went fine. Of course I felt fat and out of place. I was with people who love me :blushing:
  18. I am from Medina. Park Nicollet is my provider.
  19. Knocked of 4 more appts today and am now waiting for insurance clearance. The scales tipped at 231 an all time high. I feel awful:sad:. I have to attend my husband's family reunion this weekend and had to buy new clothes just to make it through 3 days. I want to proceed with banding asap and find the waiting to be very hard. Is it common to be down on yourself prior to surgery? I am so mad at myself for getting to this unhealthy, uncomfortable weight in the first place:mad:
  20. Seasoned Bandsters October is my month for the rest of my life. Most everyone seems so positive about their decision and would do it again. Anyone out there with regrets/ If yes, can you share why. Thanks all for your inspiration.
  21. I have the option to stay the night post-op or go home. Any advice?
  22. I work on a very busy unit/12 hour shifts. Shift starts at 7:45 and ends around 2100. Breaks do not exist, however we do get 30-45 minutes for lunch (sometimes not until 2pm) and 30 minutes for dinner (as late as 7pm). I am on my feet, walking fast, standing, pushing wheelchairs, boosting patients, crouching, bending and twisting for a great deal of my day. Cutting to the chase, how much time should I take off post surgery? We are cut little to no slack and will be called in if unable to keep up. By the way I am not telling anyone except for 2 close work friends. I'm really afraid to go back to early, particularly since my job is physically demanding and my diet will be so regimented post surgery. Any advice would be so appreciated.
