I think I got the LOW-DOWN (do people even use that term anymore?)
All interesting facts! It's amazing how out of wack our ideas are about what portions should be! Healthy carbs in the right portions are great for our body especially the whole grains. It's bad bad to completely starve your body of healthy carbs. I mean you can drop weight pretty quick without carbs but your body needs them and you can baloon out quick the second you have a small amount. I find myself loving to learn about stuff like this lately. It just seems like the more science you learn behind this whole weight loss subject the more it FINALLY makes sense!

very slow weight loss
I have been banded almost 11 mo and at mo 9 the weight loss slowed majorly. I was still eating the same calories and still exercising 6 hours a week. I went from losing 11-12 lbs a mo to 5 lbs. What i discovered was that I was sticking mostly to cardio so with all the weight loss I wasn't maintaining my muscles. Anytime you aren't maintaining your muscles weight loss will be slow because your muscles burn more fat. I have no idea what your exercise habits are but weight loss focused only on eating less with little to no real heart rate increasing and sweating exercise will always be slower. I can tell you that if I hadn't been doing as much exercise as I have the weight loss would not have been as successful for me. I'm almost 117 down and still a week shy of 11 mo. Now there is nothing wrong with the slower weight loss. If you're losing that's great! But if you're confused as to why it's not faster a good place to start looking is the exercise routine. Everyone is different and everyone has to start somewhere. The key is figuring out what works for you.

Help! Drainage!
I had the same problem. Doc took out half a cc and BAM all the sudden i could drink water again. I know mine was so bad I couldn't really eat and really hardly even drink for 4 days. I felt like warmed over death by the time I got to the doc.

Its the little things that matter!!!
AWESOME JOB! I remember I used to sit in a theatre and like squeeze in to the seat and be like it's cool as long as I don't move the cup holders don't dig in to my thighs. lol now I go in and get comfy and I can even prop my legs up under me and STILL have wiggle room. I did a little dance to celebrate that. Every victory is something to celebrate!

I must be crazy!
The main killer for me is the chest exercises. That's always been a weaker area for me. I'm so tired today. I may just face plant on my keyboard.

The question everyone avoids to answer... or at least of all the threads I have read..
Ya it's not that alcohol is going to dmg it somehow. It's just empty calories and the risk of drinking too much and get sick. If you know you're gonna drink on the rare occasion just don't drink enough to puke your guts up.

I must be crazy!
I got the bright idea to change my my work out and go the whole muscle confusion route. I am starting P90X today. I will probably be wheezing like Fatty McGee before it's all over but I'm gonna try my best to do it. I'm pretty sure it should be called 90 days of pure torture. lol Maybe that's what the X stand for!?!!?

Give and Take
I feel like the better looking I get in my clothes the worse I'm starting to look out of them! It's so funny that as I was gaining weight I kind of always had the mentality that well I'll just lose the weight eventually and BAM I'd have this smokin body. It never dawned on me the lasting affects and scars the many years of abuse would cause my body. I'm constantly looking at my body and going oooo I'm getting thinner here and here and longer here (sigh) wait LONGER? I find myself contemplating surgeries that were never an option in my mind. Boy how things change. I'm sure there is more than one person out there that can relate to this.

Glad you got that fixed I'm sure it was miserable.

Stuck. HELP!
That doesn't sound fun at all. I had something similar happen to me and I swore I had slipped but it turns out that I had bad drainage. Doc took out 0.5 of a cc and it was magic!

Woo Hoo You Stupid Scale!
This past month has been the hardest since I was banded. I've posted before I have continued to eat well and exercise, but the scale was being stubborn. I normally lose between 10-12 lbs a month and this month I lost 5.2 lbs. I was also shorted 2-3 days because it's feb lol. Details... I started reading about interval exercises and decided something had to change because my body was fighting me hard core. I switched from an hour of walking with 15 mins of steady jogging back to a walk to a new interval of fast walking for 2 mins and then jogging for 2 mins for an hour. It worked up a good sweat kept my heart rate up longer and OH MY GOODNESS the scale moves again! From the start we're told these wonderful plateaus are gonna come. We expect them and when they come we still get down in the dumps and shout at the sky haha. There is hope!Anyone else dealing with this just keep on pushing! Don't let those little bumps that feel like friggin mountains get ya down. That being said... remember I told you that because I'm sure I'll be all boo hoo again at some point.

Life Changes
I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs Boo! What a blessing about your grandchild. It's wonderful to have a little ray of sunshine during what must be a very dark time for your family.

Another visit; another fill?
I feel your pain! I'm going through the same thing right now. I've done a lot of research and I KNOW that our bodies tend to freak a little with big changes like weight loss and go in to survival mode to try to keep you where you are. I wish there was a way to say, "body I'm not dying it's ok stop fighting me!"

Another Plateau!
It's been 19-20 days since I've really lost any weight. I'm still averaging about 900-1200 cals a day. I'm still working out 4-6 times a week. I'm still drinking lots of water. It SUCKS! I've tried tripping up my metabolism here and there with taking in some extra calories, and I've bumped up my exercise. I think my body is just fighting me. I know I'll get past this but I keep finding myself becoming more negative about it every day. I just hope that someday soon I pop out of this plateau and get to losing again. I've been averaging about 10-12 lbs a mo since I was banded and this mo so far I've lost 3 and I don't have much time left. I'm super sad faced! Don't get me wrong if your average is half a pound to 1 pound a week there is nothing wrong with that. I just know how hard I work and what results I normally get from it and I'm just GRRRR about it right now! Crossing my fingers and hoping for a 180 soon.

Honeymoon Period Over. Let's move on...
Ya this is a great way to hold yourself accountable. Be honest really post your feelings and what you're doing. You'll notice good and bad days. It makes you feel better when you have a bad day to look back and see there were good days with the band and what was I doing at that point that made it work. You've lost 60 you can totally lose another 60!

Two weeks post op
Very good job! Ya 2 weeks after surgery I was exercising but at a snail pace. You are doing well!

Soda, "Chips" and Cake and still losing weight....
I've had that happen too where I'll eat like ice cream or something and lose weight. Tricking up your metabolism with a calorie boost actually does work in small doses!

Clothes are Tricky!
Ya it feels great to get the compliments. Then you have to deal with rude jealous people too haha. Clothes are SUCH an issue! All the ladies at work are like omg you shouldn't wear those pants anymore they're so big. I'm like... you wanna buy me some new clothes? Even when you buy them cheap it gets expensive when you need new clothes ever other week.
