Here to wishing you a speedy recovery! It was hard for me those first few days. However, once I started to do a short walk around our circular driveway, I noticed it helped with my recovery. I am hopeful that you will be able to sleep tonight!
  2. Sandradee we love to hear to what you have to say. I always look forward to your comments. This site helps to keep me focused on what I must do. We are all in this together! Keep going on! Talk! Talk! Talk!
  3. Thanks for the comments. Since my fill was near the end of the day yesterday. Today was the first full day. Wow, what a difference. I love it. I am not starving between my meals. I love that! Although, I did notice that I need to really make sure to chew. I take a bite or two..break a little bit....take a few more bites. This has worked for today. Right now the 3 cc's seems to be the right amount. I can eat, but I can't eat as much as before my fill. After my surgery and before the fill, I had to play mind games to convince myself that I was full. It is nice to actually be full.
  4. Whew....it is finally over..my first fill. It was not nearly as bad as I had envisioned. However, I was greatly surprised by the size of the needle. My Dr. was really sweet and he was telling me exactly what he was going to do. I really appreciated that until....he felt the need to show me that long needle. He could have skipped that part and I would have been just fine. He put 3 cc's in my band. It was not bad at all. It was much easier than getting a shot. Now I am hopeful that I will not find myself getting hungry. He stated that I should be eating 1/2 cup at a meal. That seems like such a small amount. How do we get enough calories to keep from going into starvation mode? I wished I would have asked him that question. However, if anyone has the answer please let me know.

I woke up today around 5:00 and couldn't fall back to sleep. I laid there for a while and decided instead of wasting my time I would get up and do my walk. It was absolutely beautiful. I live on an old mill in Pennsylvania with a red covered bridge at the edge of our property. I started my walk at 6:15. I was able to enjoy watching the sun come up. A huge deer ran across the road into the corn field. It just seemed like the world was waking up and I was a part of it. I couldn't believe how great I felt. :wink:I just passed my 6 week mark. I am down 26 lbs. Before I had my surgery, I really had to push myself to walk a half mile. It was so exhausting. It was almost impossible to finish. Today when I was walking my 2 miles...as my mother-in-law would say...I was clipping right along. I would not have thought this to be possible before. I just felt so alive!

Wow...that is amazing! I am still at the beginning of my journey. Not quite up to that level yet! Good luck on your marathon.
  11. Oh...the baby is beautiful. Just think you will now have the energy to play with her when she starts to run around. Having a little one around brings such happiness and joy. Have lots of fun! Congrats!
  12. Today is a new day! Keep your chin up. Please take pride in the fact the you made the choice to do this. If you don't want a fill, I wouldn't get one. You know your body best. There are times that we just have to stand up for what we know is right. I would call back and cancel that appointment. Tell them you are not ready and will not be bullied. If you don't think you can do it, have someone in your support system call for you. Just make sure to give them their 24 or 48 hour notice. Be strong and you will get through this. Best of luck.....let us know how it goes.
  13. Way to go! You are always so inspiring to anyone who reads your post. Keep up the great job!
  14. Oh....I remember the bad breath. Those first few days were horrible. However, I am out 6 weeks and it is totally gone. I know it was around day 3 that I also started to question myself. Although...once I was able to eat soft food. It was so much better! Good luck!
  15. Wow! How exciting to have loss that much so far! I am in agreement with being able to eat all kinds of foods. I did try a small lean steak. I had no problems. However, I did chew the ##@@ out of it....just to make sure. LOL
  16. We both get our first fill on September 14th. I know I could eat a lot more as well. I wondered if others worried about putting on weight during this period. It just seems like I can eat a lot. I have to really focus and eat slow to make sure that I don't. I guess that is one of the reason I am like another bandster....I keep getting on the scale to make sure that I stay on track. You know I also wonder.....once we get our first fill, can we even eat an entire piece of pizza? We need to just keep our chins up and know that we are a work in progress. We won't be perfect, but just do the best that we can!
  17. Oh my gosh....their are other's out there like me. I weigh in the morning. Then....just to make sure I did okay for the day....I weigh at night. It is insane. I have this inner fight with myself that I will just weigh myself on Saturdays. I have yet to achieve that goal. LOL

Thank you so much for that information! It is great that to find someone who had their on the same day! How is everything going for you so far? I am down from 313 (July 21/my highest weight) to 289 lbs. That is exciting for me. How has it been since your first fill? Also...thank you so much for the information! It is GREATLY appreciated!
  19. Hi, all! I am scheduled to have my first fill on September 14th. I have no idea what to expect and I am a little nervous. What do they do? What should I expect? Are there any special things that you must do after a fill? Does it hurt? I had my surgery on July 28th. I am sticking to 3 meals a day. Although.....I get soooooo hungry between meals. I try to act like I am full. Or....I drink lots of water to try to make myself feel full. I was not expecting this to happen. Any info on this would be very much appreciated!
  20. I remember the first week after surgery....wondering why I couldn't have done it on my own. I thought if I could drink liquid for 2 weeks...surely I should have done it on my own. However, once I was allow to eat soft foods, I begin to feel much better and appreciate the lapband. I had my surgery July 28th. I won't get my first fill until September 14th. I am feeling so much better about this choice all the time.

Good luck with your weight loss. I can relate to being an emotional eater. My worst time is late in the evening when all is quieting down. My support group leader gave me an acronym that helps. HALT...ask yourself are you hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. I think of this when I feel like eating and know I shouldn't. I have not had a fill yet...so I have found myself getting hungry. I know you will do a good job! Keep us posted.

I get my first fill on September 14th. I am hoping that it helps with the rumbling stomach. I do get so hungry some times. I just tell myself to HALT or go to bed (lol). I must say that it just keeps getting better and better everyday. How many days are you out from your surgery?

I finished the liquad diet a little over a week ago! I feel your pain. I had a few days during that phase when I had to question myself. However, I have moved on to soft foods and loving it. Just keep telling yourself it is temporary. And...stay away from the TV. I never knew how many food commercials were about food. Just know we have all been there.

Way to go! I am 24 days post op. I can't wait to the day that I lose 60 lbs. You should be very proud of yourself! Keep up the great work. It does help to have a supportive network.
  25. I think that you are taking a good first step in identifying the problem and trying to work through why you do it in the first place. Don't feel like a failure. Just take it one day at a time. You can do it! Keep me posted.
