Question on Lap Band Foods
everyone, including my dietician/nutritionist has "warned" me not to eat rice!!! so i've been too much of a scaredy cat to even try it!! :tt2: I dont like sushi, so i've never even thought of it. .. but doesnt it have some kind of seaweed wrapping, which i might be scared would block my opening in the band??.. even if this kind of food is ok in the future, it might just be too early right now for you to eat it?? i would say, call your doctor's office and ask the nurse/dietician/whoever handles inquiries in his/her office....sorry i'm not much more help.:tt2:

confessions of an "Olive Gardener"........
I am really proud of myself b/c one of the things that use to sabatoge my dieting before was that i had the mentality that "if i cheated even a little, i was 'off my diet' and might as well give up!" so I did (give up)...but now i just know i have to eat "right" for the next week (taking one week at a time) and do "extra" exercize tomorrow and saturday and sunday - ......uh oh!!! LOL!

confessions of an "Olive Gardener"........
Today we celebrated a special occassion w/some good friends... we ended up going to Olive Garden....I'm not gonna' lie and say that "i ate well", but i will tell the truth and say that i ate much better than I would have eaten just 2 months ago!!!! I did NOT have any breadsticks!! (and they are so yummy at OG!!) I did NOT have any wine! (I toasted with the glass, then poured the wine into my husband's glass! - smart!) I ate a small plate of salad but did NOT add dressing. I ate the tomato part of the Brushetta but NOT the bread!! (mmmm.... that is so good alone!! i never realized that before)!! I ordered eggplant parmisan (b/c it is mushy and i'm technically still s'posed to be eating "mush"!!!) but i did NOT eat all of the eggplant slices - only 2 or 3!! I did NOT eat the pasta that came w/it!! I did order desssert!!! (mmmmm.... that chocolate mousse thingie is to die for!!! and besides-its SOFT!!!! LOL!) but i did NOT finish it!!! only ate half!!! so i figure i ate far less than even 1/2 of what i would have normally eaten!!! so i'm still ahead of the game!!! :smile2:

Day 18 of pre-op liquid diet, one week til surgery, HELP
i've never heard of them cancelling b/c of a "large liver".... i dont think the doc even sees the size of your liver until he's in there...kind of funny to think of him cuttting you open, looking at your liver and saying "nope. nevermind. wake her up... we'll check back in a week>>>":tt2: ok. not reallly funny, but i'm just trying to make you smile!! BTW-my doc didnt even require weeks of pre-op liquids! just one day!!!:tt2:

The problem with fat people is....
(my treadmill is calling me, so i dont have much time to respond, but i just wanted to say...) I had a roommate once... he was a tiny guy who ate a LOT!! I use to put away the leftovers for dinner, intending a second meal for my kids the next day, he would come in and fill one huge serving plate w/ALL of the leftovers!!! some times he wouldnt even finish it but of course no one else could eat off the plate!! annndddd....when he chewed he SMACKED his lips loudly!!! drove me crazy!!! finally i had to speak up!! (or go broke, w/hungry kids!!) .... now that i'm reading your post, i have to laugh at myself...I have to wonder what he was thinking about ME?? my problem has never been large amounts of dinner food though----> I've always been a "sweets-a-holic"!!!

my BODY IMAGE....
I think I have been suffering from a “body image disorder”…. But only not a bad one, a good one, which in the end turned out to be bad…. You know how an anorexic person looks in the mirror but still sees herself as fat, even though she’s only skin & bones? Well, when I look in the mirror, I still see the beautiful, healthy, slim young lady that use to smile back at me 20 years ago. I guess I never really saw myself as “fat”. Sounds great at first but I guess it is kind of bad b/c it took a picture to shock me back to reality-----> that’s when I saw how fat I was!!! So I guess the reality check is a good thing b/c it’s motivation to lose weight!! :frown: Body image is a term which may refer to a person's perception of his or her own physical appearance, or the interpretation of the body by the brain. Essentially, body image describes how one perceives one's appearance to be in relation to others, which in many cases may be dramatically different from one's objective physical condition or how one is actually perceived by others.
