  1. It is not going to do any harm sleeping on your left side. However, I was tender on that left side for approx. a week. Also you may discover the port's incision site is a little more uncomfortable than your other incisions
  2. I think one week off is when the majority of patients can go back to work. I took an extra week off because I am a nurse, and do alot of lifting, standing&walking.
  3. Are you able to drink full liquids?
  4. Remove the abdominal dressing, doing it by lying down.Once it is removed you will see the incision. What did the plastic surgeon tell you to clean the wound with? Do not shower unless you have specific instructions to do so! Also once you have replaced the sterile dressing, reapply the binder.
  5. I bought the Syntrax on line.I also called the company& told them I was a bariatric patient& for $9.99 they sent 11 samples of their product.
  6. If you go to the syntrax website & call them, they will send 11 samples for $9.99 including shipping. I just told them I was a bariatric patient. That way you get to sample their flavors & desserts. I love the lemonade!
  7. try syntrax nectar 23gm protein in one serving.comes in flavors like fuzzy navel, caribbean cooler, lemonade.
  8. I use Labrada rockin&rollin peanut bars. 21 gm protein,only2gm sugar.290 calories. The bars taste good & fill me up for approx 4 hrs.
  9. eat high protein yougurt like Chobani, make tuna salad, shrimp salad, hummus& avocado are also good for this stage.Remember at this stage you are still healing& it's important to get 800-1000 cal.Oatmeal& Cream of Wheat are also good choices. Remember to use low fat mayonnaise or plain yougurt to make tuna,or shrimp salad. Hope this gives you some ideas
  10. The port is placed near your largest incision to the left of your umbilicus{belly button} in your case. Mine is on the left above the umbilicus. It was the most tender spot post operatively& made it uncomfortable to sleep on left side. Don't worry, it goes away
  11. Hi,I was banded 4/22/10, had first fill 6/1.I've noticed that I feel the most restiction at lunchtime& looser in the evening.Does anyone else experience this? I think it could have something to do with my activity. I'm a nurse working 12 hr shift 3 days a week. Today I could barely get 4oz. baked fish down, when i got home I could eat the hair off a ragdoll! Please share some of your experiences
  12. I"m with you Bostonmomma, Chobani greek yougurt with 18gm of protein& no fat is the best!
  13. My surgeon has his patients on Optifast for 2 weeks. Lost 17#s
  14. I'm a nurse, therefore I'm more critical of surgical results, I think you didn't get what you paid for! they should be symmetrical. For $8000 they should be perfect! In Florida breast augmentation does not cost what you paid.
  15. I have a suggestion to all my fellow bandsters. only weigh on the physcian's scales when you make your f/u visits. Your weight can fluctuate day to day. Remember your bodies can be losing inches& that doesn't always show on the scales.
  16. I was banded April22. First fill 4cc June1.I'm down 31 lbs.I feel good, walk 4.5 miles 3-4 days a week, when I'm not working 12hr days as an RN on surgical unit. I have to use good food choices all the time because I can eat more than a few tbls. I'm fortunate to have support from family, friends& co-workers.Also have the big advantage of working with my bariatric surgeon at least once a week, we do lapband surgery every Thur! It's time to walk. keep up the good work everyone. Bandsters rule!
  17. Kirby, Walk, walk.walk! Make yourself get up & walk. You'll also have little or no constipation issues.
  18. It is not the anesthesia,it is from gas introduced into abdomen with laparacopic surgeries esp. lapband, lap cholecystectomies, lap appys. I am a nurse working surgical unit& banded on 4/22. I experienced the shoulder pain post-op for approx. 5 days. It is very common with the laparascopic approach to abdomen surgery
  19. The shoulder pain is from the co2 that is introduced into the abdomen,so that your organs can be visualized. The way this gas is expelled is through belching, passing gas,& escaping under the diapragm which causes left shoulder pain or discomfort. This usually goes away in 3-5 days.
