  1. I'm "watching" you.! Buy the Protein powder like I suggested, follow the lapband rules, so you can get get to your all important "skinny bucket" to do list! I'm glad to see your doing well.
  2. I managed to complete the 2 weeks without slipping up. What helped me & continues to help me is that I told my coworkers that I was having the lapband surgery.Furthermore, I am an RN& am responsible for the care of the bariatric patients. I also lost 17lbs on the Optifast liquid diet.
  3. I've been eating out on an average of 2-3x/week since being banded! For me,it's been about food choices....high Protein, lowfat, low carb,no alcohol. Why waste calories on liquor when I can eat! I don't count calories,i don't weigh or measure my food. The band is fickle, sometimes I could"eat the hair off a ragdoll" & other times, when stressed at work, I can't eat much.
  4. I do elliptical for 60 min.,bike for 20min.abdomen crunches,& arm exercises with weights. I do this 3-4X/wk.
  5. I miss reading your posts. I know you also post on Banded Living but haven't read any posts lately. Hope all is well.
  6. The only thing you would permanetly give up would be carbonated beverages, including sparkling wines, sodas, beer. As far as food goes... nothing. I still eat Chinese, Italian,Thai .Mexican. Just make smart food choices, and of course you'll be eating smaller amounts.
  7. I like my Karhu Fulcrum running shoes. Like the "loud" colors too!
  8. OMG! You are a "skinny Bitch" & you must have taken the medication "noassatall" LOL
  9. When I was your age, I was a labor-delivery nurse. I was only 150lbs.{6ft tall}. I think the profession contributed to the weight gain! I discovered on this forum, that many lapbanders are nurses & teachers! Something in our "make-up", too busy taking care of others, often neglecting our own needs.
  10. Mimi, How long are your sessions?
  11. Do you workout with the trainer 3x/wk & are your sessions 30min. or 1 hr? Also did you have to sign a contract for so many sessions and what is the "going" rate for personal trainer in your area?
  12. Recently joined a gym & considering hiring a personal trainer. I'd appreciate any feedback... pros, cons. I walk, jog 3-4x/wk.use the elliptical & recumbent bike. I'm about 30lbs from my goal,& my body looks good except for "bat wings". Thanks for any feedback.
  13. Dr. Aguila in Tampa. $10,000 self pay.
  14. I'm just back from my bariatric surgeon's office. It's been just under 10 months since surgery,3 fills,91 lbs lost& am in "onederland "also very close to a normal bmi {I'm tall 6ft.}.Oh... by the way I just celebrated my 60th birthday by running 5 miles!
  15. I'm down 2 sizes& went from a C to a B cup since surgery!
  16. I've eaten steamed mussels, also calamari without any problems. As a matter of fact, if I'm going to eat Italian , I love linguini pescatore with mussels, shrimp& scallops. YUM.
  17. Hi. I will be meeting you next Thur. I am one of the nurses providing your care after your procedure! Keep up the good work, you'll be surprised how much weight you lose on the optifast!
  18. I discovered a good source of protein as well as dietary fiber! Have you tried dry roasted edamame? I eat it in salads or as a snack..
  19. Wilkes&Mchugh is a well known for nursing home abuse in the U.S.,they also represent clients in other malpractice issues. They have an office in Lexington.
  20. I wanted to share some of the best comments made to me at this point in my lapband journey. I am an RN working on med/surg unit. One of the doctors who I haved worked with for several years called me, Skinny bitch"...lol... not in the derogatory way!He knew I had the lapband. Another physician kept asking me.. "was I feeling alright... had I been ill? When I explained about the surgery he was relieved because he thought I developed cancer. Another MD ,who I hadn't seen in a year circled me in the hallway before exclaiming "Judy?' By the way, I've got to end this post& head out to the mall need to buy some new jeans size 14... down from 24, in 81/2 months.
  21. liquid Tylenol. Also if you are on any prescribed meds, you are supposed to crush them. Stay away from aspirin & NSAIDS like Advil, these meds can contribute to band erosion.
