I think what your discription is my goal. Regular food in small portions and not focusing on diet...........good luck. I am banded on 4/30.
  2. Hi everyone, I get banded April 30th. I am self pay so no pedop diet or required weigbtloss. My bmi is 35. I am nervous and. Excited for this next chapter. Please keep me in your prayers next Friday.
  3. My surgery is next friday and my surgeon and nutritionist didn't say that I should stop alli.
  4. Well I came to this blog and start this journey speaking honestly. I have used Alli for the past 3 years. I spoke to my nutritionist and she said I could still use it with the band. I don't see a problem with it unless it is used as an excuse to overeat. It deters overeating of fat. It only handles about 50% of 12 grams eaten at a meal. If you overeat fat you will suffer. One reason I like using it is that I am regular and never constipated. Obviously it hasn't helped to loose weight or I wouldn't be getting banded but I have maintained my weight for about 1 year without weight gain. Most of my weight re-gain had been right after breast cancer when I felt so out of control of my life..............Well there it is the truth.

Man, that is awful. I hope and pray you are better! I am getting banded in 11 days. I appreciate you sharing.
  6. Wow what fantastic responses to you Barbee. I am not yet banded 4/30 and I have similar feelings. I understand. Life or lifestyle is the question I ask myself. I want life. I am 50, a breast cancer survivor and obesity is a pre curser to a return. I want to do all I can. I will pray you do the right thing. I think we will be okay, more than okay....fabulous!

I don't have any suggestions. I can relate though. I am a 2 year survivor. I am having lapband the end of this month to get healthy. I hope all goes well with you.
  8. I get banded on the 30th so your blog was very encouraging! Keep it up!
  9. Hi there, I get banded the end of this month. Any words of wisdom for me. You look like you have done it the right way............thanks
  10. I am new. Pre band. Surgery scheduled 4/30. I bit nervous as I was so hungry after church that I thought I was going to eat my husbands arm. I think I was just extra tired also due to benadryl for an allergy attack. I understand the whole midlife crisis thing. I have another birthday wednesday. My ex has been "ridden hard and put away wet" as is a saying in my family for someone who is worse for ware. He is turning the same age the day after me. He always calls to wish me happy birthday and calls me the "old lady"........haaa. Better to be in midlife than no life at all!

You and I have about the same weight to loose. I am being banded 4/30. Join the blog group "April Bunny Bandster", Everyone will be or has been banded in April. God bless you on your new journey! I will be right there with you!
  12. I would have that checked out. If it is heartburn I heard papaya enzymes work.
  13. I will pray for you and your daughter. Eating won't change anything but your weight. Pray, pray, pray!
  14. I haven't been banded yet. I know I have had complications with a hernia operation. I have had a seroma for 4 months that is turning into a hematoma. My surgeon said he can do the lapband around it without causing a problem. I hope and pray he is right. I will be praying for you. Keep your head up!
  15. 19 days till surgery.....4/30. I am out of control. I bought candy like it is the last supper or something. I wish the date were sooner but I am so grateful to God I am able to self pay on this.
  16. Yes prayer and support will be imperative. I found muscle milk at Costco. It is not soy based but I am not sure if it is a meal replacement. I will pray for you as this will be tough at first but we can do this!! I heard a neat saying today that miracles come in "cans". So we "can"!
  17. Sounds like you are a Christian. I am a Christian also and know that I will need God's strength more than ever for this journey. food has always been a problem for me. My top weight was 267. I lost 100 lbs by eating smaller meals but have put back on 50+. I am looking toward lapband as a tool, "like a hammer to a nail" and hopefully get my focus back where it needs to be.......... I hate focusing so much on me. I am turning more to food pre surgery as I am self pay and my bmi doesn't warrant a long preop diet of liquids. Well that is all for now. Thanks for posting

Yes that is awesome. I am banding on the 30th. Are you totally liquid diet?
  19. Yes thank you. I love reading these post to help when I do get banded. Thanks!
  20. I got turned down from insurance 2 times so I did try on my own. I am back and doing a self pay. I wish you the best. It is a tough decision to make.
  21. I think finding comfort in something else other than food is the key. Make a list of other things you enjoy or will enjoy once you can move when thinner. I know I cannot do anything without prayer. The lapband is a tool to help in weight loss. That is how I have to look at it. I am not going to be banded until 4/30 so I am having lots of thoughts also. We will make it!
  22. What I have found is not everyone is supportive but what I have learned is you cannot please everyone and there will always be a judge. If you can do this with peace don't worry about what others say.
  23. Enjoying reading the blogs for those just recently banded. You are helping me get pshyced for my date at the end of the month 4/30. Next Saturday I am going to start a new schedule. I will get up an hour early to have my coffee, vitamins an hour before eating. I will take that time to get ready for the day and then practice eating without drinking. Any tips? I would be interested.
  24. Muscle milk @ Costco is not too bad.
  25. I will be praying for a quick recovery!
