I cheated on my pre op diet

Ok so i'm going to be honest and this is going to be really hard for me to do. But here I go. So I started my pre op diet on 4/5/2010 and the first day I did great but on the 2nd day I had a horrible day at work so I ate burger king... Took some pills to go2 the bathroom (if you know what I mean) but I still felt terrible. After that I haven't really stayed on my diet 100% I have been eating some cream chesse here and there w/ritz crackers (Reduced fat) But now my doctor told me on saturday 4/10 to start my all liquid diet. So the night before I had my last meal which was my weakness mcdonalds... :sad:I feel like I really can't do this. I know what the plus side of doing this surgery will be but I can't stop my mouth. I have 4 days left until my surgery and I promising myself that I will do it. I will stick to it! But what if I can't? What will happen? How bad can you cheat without messing up your chances to have this surgery. I know most people will say you want it so bad stop eating but it's easier said then done. Shit it's only for a few days! GOD WHAT IS MY PROBLEM!!!!! :)

Maybe take the time to write down all the reasons you want/need this surgery and all the benefits you will enjoy when you are a healthy weight. Then, stick this on your refrigerator. Also, if at all possible, find a way that you can stop handling food until your surgery... let your family fend for themselves and stay out of the kitchen except when you are making a shake. If you do go in the kitchen tempted to get something, read your list on the refrigerator. You can do this! Take it one day at a time and remind yourself you only need to get through the first four days right now. Don't get overwhelmed thinking longer than that.

Also, I bet deep down inside you have a lot of self-doubt about this surgery. We all do. We all think we are gonna be the ones it won't work for. Trust me, it WILL work! It will take some time and patience to get to proper restriction and change your habits. We all stumble along the way. It is not a 'success-only' journey, but as long as you keep trying, you cannot fail. Hang in there!

I think finding comfort in something else other than food is the key. Make a list of other things you enjoy or will enjoy once you can move when thinner. I know I cannot do anything without prayer. The lapband is a tool to help in weight loss. That is how I have to look at it. I am not going to be banded until 4/30 so I am having lots of thoughts also. We will make it!

Its your decision and you should weight all the pro's and con's. I and all bandster's have done this. Some of the surgery eating habits, liquids, mushies, solids, in that order are for a reason. If you desire to loose like I am, then prepare yourself. Note the night prior to my surgery I had a T-Bone Steak at OUTBACK, my first trip to OUTBACK TOO. Enjoyed it, but by morning I was on my way for surgery. I could have backed out but it's my strong desire to not be BIG, all my life and to live longer. After 11 weeks I am down 33 pounds from 270#s. That's about 2.84 #s a week loss. The greatest thing about my surgery is I have alot more energy and my self-esteem is high again. Really you begin to feel great, energetic, and wonderful. Yes I occasionally go out with the wife and daughter, and I had one Big Mac 1/2, ate it slowly too. I have been eating chicken, fish and beef along with a veggie. You fill full so it's not a problem. If your hungry a few hours after your three daytime meals, get some sugarless popsicles and pudding. It's working for me.

This week I am back on soups, and mushies, and will be for two weeks, my choice, I want to drop some more pounds before my 4th FILL, whioh will be on 24 Apr. I will then have 8 cc's in a 10 cc band. I am ready for it. Loosing 100 #s in one year will happen and just maybe early too. I am totally satisfied that I had my surgery--my wife was the one who scheduled it for me, and I thank her. It's up to you, so if you want to be a new person in 2010, it's your choice. Good luck.

Thank you for all your comments. After reading everything you had to say I'm so glad took the leap I started my liquid diet the right way and stayed on track for the 4 days. It was hard but I did it :w00t: The doctor wanted me to lose 15lbs but I only lost 11lbs which he said was still great! I finally had my surgery today and I'm at home feeling great. I do have some pain but I'm doing ok. Thanks again for all your advise my new Lap Band Friends!

Oh thinatheart it's worth it and I wish you all the best. You can do it and it will be great!
