You can get through it....or you can call your doctor and express to him/her your concerns of hunger. He might permit you to eat.....you never know.

    yeah, what Dolly said
  3. I am careful about my calorie and carb intake. For me the deal breaker is water and excercise. When I drink lots of water daily, people compliment me like crazy and I literally shrink. And it does wonders for my skin and everything else. My goal is to up the excercise, specifically, cardio!
  4. Happy belated birthday! I would like to add, "How much water do you drink daily?"

    Happy happy birthday!
  6. I'm sorry, I called you by the wrong name from your blog. I meant Thomas. You'll get lots of support here from successful lapbandsters.
  7. Great choice, Scott!
  8. glad you're back!
  9. Lunamiah, my six year told me something similar, too funny.

Thanks everyone for all of your support and encouragement. I intend to get to my goal.
  11. So, I returned to work today after two week winter break. Within my first 20 minutes of being there, 5 different people approached me at different times; each saying how great I looked and asking if I had eaten over the break. In the hours to follow, 4 more people said similar things to me about how I am constantly losing and managing not to even gain over the holidays. I admit, I hardly eat cause I'm at my sweet spot, but I swear, although I can't be sure....I've only lost about 7 pounds in the last month (I made a habit to weigh myself less frequently). What are these people seeing??? They saw me three weeks ago and I am not much different. Anyway, any compliment, I'll take. My mother told me today that I appear to be 170 instead of 191....then, I couldn't help but to get on the scale tonight....and it said 193. Whoa, I gained 2 pounds!?!?!?!
  12. Wow, I had no idea you had this much going on this year. You are truly blessed and a blessing to all of us here. In the words of Martin Lawrence, "You go girl!!!". Now let me go wipe away my tears of joy.

So, I was banded February 25,2010. I knew wanted to be a success story. 10 months later and I'm sixty eight pounds lighter. My first goal was to be at 199. I met my goal without realizing it. I am now at 193. I am 32 pounds from my final goal. I remember feeling like, "If I can just make it out of the 200's". Now I'm like, " I want out of the high 100's". Weird isn't it? Shouldn't I be satified? I have not been this small since I got married back in 1997, but it's like the more I lose, the more I want to lose.I want to lose 100% of my goal weight by February. My family thinks I should stop and should be happy right were I am. I am happy and I also am back to thinking about my weight too often. What is with that?
  14. I think this is what is referred to as bandster hell, you'll make it.

It is possible. I didn't have Humana but I was required to pay 20% after my 1000 deductible was met with a maximum out of pocket of 1,750.00. My doctor's office has financing options for patients so you may wanna check on that with your doctor, too. Good luck
  17. Good plan, do what it takes and make sure you're getting your protein in with those 1000-1200 calories.

Mr doctor's office gave me a book called "The Lap-Band solution Book" by Dr. Paul O'Brien. I loved it and still read it from time to time

I think it is just about meeting the insurance requirements and having documentation. During that time,I took suggestions from the nutritionist, eliminated certain things from my diet, increased excercise, and truthfully journaled EVERYTHING. I may have lost five pounds in that four month period (my ins. required 4 months). I'd lose a pound one month and gain 3 the next...yo-yo totally. Don't quote me but I don't think weightloss really matters until the pre-op. My bff had LB surgery too in Nov 2009, didn't lose a pound during her six month. Another friend had Gastric in 2007 and didn't lose during the six months either. One more, my cousin had bypass last summer. It was by for by Medicaid!!! and she didn't lose weight prior.
  20. You've gotten good advice here. I would add that you may need about three days in bed before going out and being independently mobile. I had my surgery of a Thursday and intended on going to work Monday. I did well after surgery and through that Sunday. However, the gas kicked in and I could not make it to work until the Wednesday following. So I took six days including the weekend to recuperate. The month following, I took it easy whilemy body healed. I was placed on the post op diet stages that Bklynike speaks of. The only exception was my surgeon had me drinking protein shakes after about three days post-op. It was the only thick liquid I had before moving to mushies. Good luck
  21. Yeah I was on the preop for two weeks and lost 17 pounds. At first, I HATED it...the shakes and no food and carbs....but then When I got on the scale and saw 8 pounds gone in 4 days, I was encouraged. Keep it up, you sound like you're ready!!!
  22. Whoa, and to think I sipping on sweet tea as I read this. It's going out today!!!

Fret not, take it one day at a time. Do what you. If you want it bad enough, you will succeed. The pre-op diet isn't a liquid diet. At least mine wasn't. I had to protein shakes a day then a third meal with green veggies and lean meat (fish or tuna mostly). It was hard the first week but when I saw the results (weightloss) I was determined more than ever. I remember all of those depressed days. I have been overweight and depressed most of my adult life. I used to think about my weight all day everyday. Now I don't think about it as often. Choosing this new path will help rid some of the depression and perhaps medication won't be needed as often. Good luck to you.

There are all kinds of experiences. I recommend listening to those who have good results and listen to the things they tell you. When something goes wrong it is usually because someone is not following the recommendations. I know more success stories more than anything else. My doctor's office gave me a book called "The Lapband Solution" by Pat P'Brien. I used it along with this site, personal testimonies from other clients, and youtube. I don't regret my decision and am proud of my results. I was banded in Feb of this year and have lost 70lbs. There are others that have done better than me and vice versa. Do your research when selecting your doctor. Don't let one bad story ruin a chance to a newer, smaller you. Good luck in your decision.
