What a year it has been

First let me which everyone a very happy and healthy New Year.

With that out of the way, I must say this has been the craziest year I have ever had. Let's start at the beginning. On January 5th of last year (2010) I had a mastectomy becuase I had breast cancer. I did not have the reconstruction done right away, because my plastic surgeon knew I was having Lapband surgery in the summer - postponed from December when I learned about the cancer. He said my body would be changing to drastically so he would put it off. He did not want me to be lop-sided. I had my Lapband surgery on 6/21, my actual birthday that I call my rebirth.

I did not need chemo - I did not need radiation - I have lost 69.5 lbs - I am cancer free - I am no longer diabetic - I no longer have sleep apnea - I no longer have high blood pressure

I am hoping to have my tummy tuck and boobs done in December of this year.

I know I will always have to watch what I eat, always exercise and be ever viligent. I will do so because I am loving my new self. I guess my journey will never end, but I thank God everyday I made the journey at all.

Wow, what a positive, encouraging testimony. Thanks for sharing. I'm at the beginning of the journey. Surgery 3 weeks ago, and go to perhaps have my first fill on Wednesday. Blessings!

Wow...you have done such a great job! I love seeing how well you are doing. It is truly a motivation for me. I am so happy to have lost 3 lbs this past week. I was at a stand till for about 2 weeks. Finally, the past 2 days it has dropped off. I know that when I feel a little discouraged I just need to come onto this site and read blogs like yours and it inspire me! Keep up the awesome job!

You are so inspiring...you could have given up when you were first told you had cancer but no you kept fighting and now look. I can't wait until December and see what you look like then...I want to see bikini pictures then since I already think you look amazing now!! LOL My 3yr old just found out I had boobs...so you can imagine what they looked like before and now you can see I have them when I am naked so for 2 1/2 years of his life he couldn't tell fat from boobs..pretty sad!! Keep checking of the "I don't have this anymore" list! You are an amazing woman and making everyone you come across very proud!! Take care!!
