Banded March 2010
Hi I was banded my Dr. Enochs on March 19th and would love to chat about your journey. I am a very positive person when it comes to my band and a stick by the program type person but I do cheat every now and then (it keeps me grounded). Lol!..... my email is barbarabachi@yahoo.com.

Coffee???
Hello, I was banded on March 19th and they said no coffee (I simply love the stuff) so about 4 weeks out I had a cup and my blood sugar dropped (not a diabetic) and really felt horrible, however that would happen sometimes before I was banded. My girlfriend got banded 3 weeks after me and asked the nutritionist about her friend (which was me) not being able to have coffee and she said the reason was that it could cause low blood sugar. When I moved to solids I had no problems with coffee and enjoy a cup daily. Coffee is fine but not right away because you are eating so little at first. Hope this helps.

feeling good
Congratulations on your weight loss, i weigh the exact same as you and have lost 31 pounds since being banded on March 19th and am loving every minute. I focus on the protein as well and 900- 1200 calories a day and average 2-2.5 pounds a week. This is truly the best thing I ever done for myself and finally for once I am eating to live not living to eat.

I log everything I put in my mouth on "myfitnesspal" which is so awesome and I stay between 900-1200 calories a day....1 day a week a may do 1300 or 1400 to trick my body. Oh forgot to tell you that I also eat mini babybell light cheese and laughing cow light cheese triangles, almonds and dry roasted peanuts. Hey if you like feel free to email me at barbarabachi@yahoo.com will be able to answer you quicker that way because it come right to my blackberry.

So my thinking has had a makeover...
This is true because if you do not feel restriction you should not give up. I had surgery on March 19th and am doing very well and have lost 21.4 lbs and a total of 28.4. Here are some ideas of what I eat...breakfast : boiled egg and 3 turkey sausage links and coffee, nonfat greek yogurt and 3 turkey sausage links and coffee...lunch is tuna salad kits (which I read you do not like tuna) sugarfree pudding, or chili from wendy's, refried beans with queso on top, nuggets or chicken strips from chic-fi-la. Dinner 3 or 4 turkey meatballs in bbq sauce with 1/2 cup broccoli or a crab cake from ruby tuesday and broccoli. That's basically what I eat sometimes I switch lunch for dinner and vice versa. Oh, some morning I will have a grande skinny vanilla latte add protein and 2 equal (160 cal and 18 grams of protein). Hope this helps!!!!!

No fills yet
Hello, my doctor says that some people can go a long time for a fill because the placement of the band gives us some form of restriction because everyone's stomach wall if different. Some may have a thick stomach wall or a thin one, that's why you may not need one right away. I was banded on March 19, 2010 and had my first fill on May 4th with 2cc total in my 10cc band and I feel that I have restriction, I tend to fill it more when I eat meats first like I am suppose to. Can't say I am hungry just eat when I am suppose to so I can get 80 grams of protein and 900-1200 calories a day. I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 week Post-Op..1 Concern
Yes this is normal, I was banded on March 19, 2010. My first week post op was fairly easy, the second week is when I felt a little head hunger and my weight loss seem to have stalled when I went to full liquids. At my 2 week appt. the PA told me to move to pureed foods, he said if it has a mother I could eat it....Lol and to eat 80 grams of protein a day and to consume 800-1000 calories a day and drink my water. Once I started that the scale started moving again and is still moving nicely. I am down 16 lbs since surgery and 24 lbs total. I go in for my first fill on May 4th done under fluoro...if I am doing well he may not give me one, will keep you posted. Fyi......I love my band! Still wonder though is most of my success is the band or will power.....LOL!!!!

I Feel So Happy!!!!!!
Congratulations Cynthia, all I can say is that I feel the same way. I love my band and too am a very positive person. Have not had a fill yet but watching my calories and getting my protein in and am doing very well.

Anybody wish they HADN'T done it?
I am starting my 7th week on friday and OMG i am so freaking happy and i do repeat happy with my BAND. i go in on may 4th for my first fill and am excited about it. This is my opinion, if a person is not happy with there band either they are non-compliant and/or impatient. Make sure you follow the rules and your portion sizes and exercise.

ATTENTION to those who are less than 3 months post-op and discouraged-READ HERE!!!
So glad you posted this, I am newly banded as of March 19th and am very pleased with my band and the results. I am an extremely positive person and I simply ignore all the negative post (my doctor's PA even told be to believe half of what I read on this post and to follow the positive) but would be excited NOT to see so many "I'm discouraged" post.

Starbucks fanatics unite!
Hello, I am on week six and I just started back on my coffee. I have Starbucks at least 4 times a week and this is what I order....Grande skinny vanilla latte add protein and one equal. Total calories is 160 with a total of 18 grams of protein, 130 calories for the latte and 30 calories for the scoop of protein. Ask for the nutritional pamphlet when you visit starbucks but my info is correct. Hope this is healthful and yes I am still losing weight with my coffee intake.

I had 2 ounces of refried Beans for dinner and was so freakin full....had been feeling so normal was wondering if I really had the band..lol so that's what it took to feel it? So loving that feeling of getting full fast:thumbup: Email me so we can chat more barbarabachi@yahoo.com

Just wondering
Do not get me wrong, I never expected to keep losing a pound a day, maybe I was not very clear on my post. I have been on many, many diets over the years and know how it works. Was just surprised to see the scale go up 2 pounds over night but should not have gotten alarmed, I pushed my water and it went back down:thumbup:. My concern was that I was still doing full liquids and had forgotten briefly how my body holds on to water but it is making mindful of my sodium intake.

Over 40 and pregnancy
Hello, I am 41 and will be turning 42 in july and I plan to start trying to get pregnant summer of 2011. This is my second marriage for me and my husband and he does not have any children either, also that was one of the reasons for me getting banded as well. Band date March 19, 2010. Wishing us all blessings and healthy babies!!!!

Just wondering
I am sure it will, but it was nice seeing the scale move down every morning when I got on it. Oh well, I am still excited and feel better and more energetic everyday:thumbup:.

Just wondering
Hello, was just wondering if anyone had an increase on the scale when you started full liquids. I had been losing around a pound a day until I added soup....will it even out and I start losing again? Still only consuming around 600 cals a day. Surgery was March 19th. Thanks for your input.

March Bandster Updates
Hi, I was banded on March 19th and have just moved to full liquids...YAY for me!! I can honestly say that my experience has been awesome, I was very sore and port site hurt a little but i tried to ignore it and literally walk thru it. Went to the beach the sunday after surgery and walk a total of 2 1/2 miles while I was there and it really helped a lot with my healing I believe. I went back to work on day 7 and worked a full day with lots of energy ( I am a cosmetologist) . Lost 7 pounds pre-op and 10 pounds since surgery. Good Luck to all!!!
