Used my "card" today!
Love your picture by the way. That girl at the registrar gave you a form of discrimination if I ever heard of a restaurant not letting you eat food because of a medical issue. OMG, She clearly is uneducated. It is sad we have to carry a card. I agree, I am glad you spoke up and mentioned it to the manager. Restaurants are killing people with the unhealthy food that the serve. I get frustrated when I am at a restaurant and I do not get a drink of any kind and I get asked 15 times in the course of a meal if I would like a drink. Hey, What part of No Thank you do you NOT understand anyway?????? The NO or The Thank You LOL It really does get annoying. I love my band. Best wishes imaluckydog

My first blog entry
Best wishes on your journey. Mine has been amazing. I am now 46 weeks. I have lost a small person in weight and wear a size 12P I think I wore that size in elementary school. LOL It has been the best decision I have ever made for myself. I feel great and I look smart in all my new clothes. I used to wear a 24 plus on a good day. Best wishes imaluckydog

50 days post-op - 63 lbs - one fill
Thank you I start my day reading these blogs and you just made my day!!! You are the MOST non-selfish person I know!!!! You took time to share and help others here. You took charge of your life and you alone are making this happen. I was banded 46 weeks ago, where does the time go? I too have lost almost an entire person. I chose good healthy foods and I do not take part with the food pushers in my life today. To me they are like drug dealers as food was my drug. Now coffee is my only drug of choice only in the morning. I seem to say to people who want to know more and ask me questions I say, "I always wanted to be small so now I eat small, I am smaller, and feel great." It sorta shuts them up because they know if they ate less they would also lose too!! Keep it simple. LOL Best wishes imaluckydog

4days post op
Keep hydrated the worst is getting dehydrated not a good thing. Yes, pain is part of the program with LB. It took me almost two weeks before I felt better, I had a ton of pain. I could not get comfortable in any position. Be kind to yourself and take the time you need to heal. It has almost been a year for me now so I have been there. If you can walk it will help with the gas and get it moving. The Dr. puts a lot of air in your body and not all of it has a way out so it gets trapped. Keep moving and walk as much as you are able. Drink your liquids slowly. Be patient. If you have real concerns call your DR. ASAP. Best wishes imaluckydog

Hunger Pains?!?!
Be careful with crackers at night. Maybe drink a half glass of milk the protein is what will help stop the hunger. Best wishes imaluckydog

Such a challenge!
Yes, I think the meeting place is odd as well. It sure would give you strength, Just to know you can walk into a place that may have been a trigger and leave all the food for everyone else. That food will NOT make you feel good at all. I had just a little bit of it yesterday and I can tell you first hand they cook with way to much salt and sugar for our needs I felt sick all day and I only had 5 bites. Support groups are excellent. I highly recommend them. Best wishes imaluckydog

2nd day post op
I am almost at my one year mark and I am glad I took the time to heal at the beginning. I needed almost two weeks of rest before I was feeling myself. I had a lot of bloating and pain from incisions. Walking helps. Keep well and follow all the rules. What a GIFT is RIGHT!!! I LOVE MY BAND. I cannot believe how fast a year can go by. Best wishes imaluckydog

Loose 1/2 the weight?
I do not know why people say this? Maybe it is the average? I have lost 97 pounds in 11 months thats about what I needed to lose. When I lose three more pounds I will be at my desired weight. These last three pounds for me have been the hardest. I have been at same weight since February. Up and down maybe two pounds. Working with my band. I am happy and wear a size 12p down from a size 24 plus so I have absolutely NO complaints I LOVE MY LB. imaluckydog

Something weird is happening
Yes, I have, it is wonderful thing. It is not about the food any more. I had to keep reminding myself to eat because I got so busy with life. I had to Keep to a schedule or get light headed. I did find that if I ate any sugar I would get hungry. I am trying to keep away from sugar and other trigger foods. My head still can do a number on me. ( head hunger) I love not feeling hungry all the time. Best wishes imaluckydog

Might be too tight
I had this!!! I stayed tight like too tight for too long ended up with acid reflux. Now everyone is different. Just watch for signs of fluid coming up when you are prone. I would go to bed and I was up in a few minutes with heart burn and acid sickness. That lasted all night so I could not sleep. That is not good. Getting an adjustment will help, I had two of them to get me where I am today. I am a little loose now and learning how to eat properly. Old habits die hard. Best wishes I love playing with my band. imaluckydog

Soooo close but not there yet!
Best wishes I have 3 pounds to go and they will not disappear. I need to zip my mouth better I think. I have been getting a little lazy and high caloric foods are creeping back into my mouth. Yikees, I just needed to say that. I have a little over a month until my one year bandversay too and I want these three pounds to be gone in the worst way. I need to step it up a little more in the exercise department as well. I need to play better with my band. Best wishes to you I am strugglin... imaluckydog

Restriction is RESTRICTING!
Happy Mothers Day, and yes my food is always cold by the time I get to eat enough of it. I am used to cold food now. I still have to go very slowly. I have also had an un-fill because I was just too tight. Sorta like too sweet... LOL Best wishes. imaluckydog

second time around
I do not know about how you make decisions? I thought long and hard before I did this to myself. I was darn sure I wanted to lose weight for good. I was banded almost one year ago and it has been the best decision I have ever made. Nothing compares to how I feel today after having lost 97 pounds in less than a year. I am working hard to lose the next three by my year June 29th I feel I can do it. This band works only if you work with your band. My experience has been amazing. Best wishes on your second time around. You can do it We are here to support you. imaluckydog

Sad today....
It is going to be OK. Your heart will hurt for a while but for only as long as you will let your heart hurt. We are your friends here on this site you can tell us any thing we will not judge you. I was banded June 29 of last year. I am coming up to my one year bandversary LOL.... This will change you, I did not tell my mother and only my two adult children and husband know. I just did not want all the questions. I just tell people I eat real food not too much and mostly plants with protein first. It works for me and I am very happy. It is possible to take care of yourself after the surgery. Not as much fun though that is having someone else to help out. Some people do not even stay over night in the hospital. I had to because my surgery was at 4:30 in the afternoon. My Dr. does about 3 or 4 of these a day. Some go right home. Now you are sore and there is some pain but as I recall the Meds help. You feel better so soon. I can hardly believe it has almost been 1 year. Where does the time go. Best wishes and now take care of yourself and good things will happen to you. imaluckydog

What do you mean you FORGOT to eat?
I just love reading and hearing your positive message. I am almost a year and I celebrate every little goal. We need to put ourselves first. Sad to hear of your loss in your family. It is a good thing food does not have to be the end all be all anymore. Yes I did forget to eat lunch one day. I found out the hard way that we banders need to keep on a food an liquid schedule. When I got off my schedule I got cranky, and dehydrated not good for the LB that is for sure. I am now always planning and have food with me just in case life takes off and I can hydrate or feed myself easily. I do remember forgetting to eat LOL only happened once. I just love my band and I have been maintaining a 97 pound weight loss so Happy me. I know if I tried harder I could lose the three pounds and make 100. For today I am just HAPPY being me and playing well with my band. Best wishes imaluckydog

scanning the room....
I did that last night at the party I went to. LOL I was not by any means the largest person there. In the past I was always the largest person. I felt so normal sized and I knew I looked great, because I felt great. My new size 12 black dress was so comfortable and I did not feel poured into it like all the other black dresses I used to wear. I ate a normal size portion of food and as everyone was going up for seconds I was still noshing on what I had taken. Such a good feeling to be in control. I just love my band and this is so cool being able to look around and feel good for once in my life. Best wises to all. imaluckydog

Life
Keep blogging it is therapy in the best form. You are a wonderful mother. Take care of yourself first and all will fall into place. You are strong and now have a tool to help you. I had so much stress my band tightened on me and I needed an Un-fill it helped. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Best wishes imaluckydog

Good Morning Life
I just loved your blog. Thank you. Yes, this is the most amazing journey I have ever been on I just love my band I did just say I LOVE MY BAND!!!! Well I do....I have made a few if not many food mistakes and have learned dearly for them. It is also a gift I have been able to work with for the past 11 months and next month will be a year. Wow did that go by so fast. I have lost 97 pounds had an Un-fill and I am still losing inches! I have to play well with my band and it will work for me. I enjoy this new found body of mine and jump at invitations to go out to parties now. Now that I have something to wear. I could never go any place because I never had anything that fit. I have gone from a size 24 plus to a size 12P in less than a year. Hello new body and better healthy living. Best wishes imaluckydog

Is this Normal???
I had to have an Un-fill I was too tight. I had every thing you mentioned. I went in and the Dr. they took a very small amount out. I was nervous about that. I was afraid I would gain weigh. I did not! I felt almost immediately better as if I could feel the release. I can sleep now with no acid reflux which the Dr. said can turn into something much worse so they were very glad I came in for an adjustment. Everyone is so different. I had stress in my life and this caused my band to tighten on it's own after having had a fill and not being filled for five months. The Un fill has helped me so much and I still kept losing. Do not wait it will only get worse. Best wishes imaluckydog

Day FIVE liquids
It will get easier for sure. You are a busy mom with a toddler. I was also promised I would lose and I sure did. I followed the rules and when I didn't I learned the hard way! I am down 97 pound for which I will never gain back. I feel great, look great and have a new lease on life. Enjoy your journey. Best wishes imaluckydog

1 week Post-Op..1 Concern
Yes, you are normal. The first few weeks are hard. The hunger is real. Remember the rules and follow them. If you eat the protein first and fill up on that you will feel fuller longer. No liquids with the meals or you wash the food thru the first pouch and do not feel full. That was the hardest thing for me to learn. I will say the first weeks you can eat more than before you get a fill. Just remember you have a tool now that will help you. It is about choices you make. Also head hunger may and can be psychologic. I had to work on that. I have been banded almost a year now lost 97 pounds. Best wishes imaluckydog

Not sure
Wow, you are taking all the steps in the correct direction. I started at 250 plus and I am now 153 I have almost lost 100 pound and my year bandversary is coming up on June 29. I have changed so much in one year. I chose not to tell only my husband and adult children know. I just did not want all the questions. I just tell people when they ask about my lose that I eat real food, not too much and mostly plants with protein first. I say sort of like weight watchers. I also work with a nutritionist monthly. I find the complements hard to handle. I have been fat all my life and up and down a million times. People call me skinny now. It is so weird. LB works if you work with it. I love my band and would do this over in a instant. I love my new body and my life is so much more fun at 153 pounds and a size 12 down from a size 24 plus. It is an amazing journey and does take some time to prepare for. It is all worth it and you will have friends here on this site that will be very supportive. Best wishes and Happy blogging it always helps me keep my paws out of the cookie jar. imaluckydog
