second time around

Has anyone had lap band surgery and had it removed? I have gained my 50 lbs. I lost back. I am home today and have been eating way to much. I have an appt. to see about having lap band put back in. Has anyone out there have gone thru this. My regular dr. is pushing me to do it again. Food is important to me. I love to cook for my family. I hate the weight. I am in a happy marriage (33 trs.) I want to lose the weight but it's such a big decission to do it again or noy?

I think the best thing you can do is set yourself down in a corner and decided what you want more ... to be thinner or the food. No one can make that decision for you. Perhaps your not ready to make that decision yet. I am 60 years old. I cancelled 3 appointment consults before I felt so low that there was no other way to go than up. It is a struggle, no doubt about it. I have two libraries of cookbooks. I wrote a cookbook, I have the best stocked kitchen when it comes to food and cooking toys. Wish me luck, I am only on day one of the pre-surgery diet, and I am inventing allowable foods that taste good, spicy and comforting. Hang in there!

The first time I had my surgery I felt great. I had gone to 3 different doctor's because our insurance was changed. I had very little counseling before the surgery. My primary doctor said in a year you will lose 100 lbs. Lost 50. My weight goes to my belly otherwise if you look at my face you would never think I was fat. Your kitchen sounds like mine. Lots of luck to you....My treat was italian ice.

I do not know about how you make decisions? I thought long and hard before I did this to myself. I was darn sure I wanted to lose weight for good. I was banded almost one year ago and it has been the best decision I have ever made. Nothing compares to how I feel today after having lost 97 pounds in less than a year. I am working hard to lose the next three by my year June 29th I feel I can do it. This band works only if you work with your band. My experience has been amazing. Best wishes on your second time around. You can do it ;-) We are here to support you. imaluckydog

I am like you... I love to cook. so I still do, I've just done some modifications and my food still tastes great. I now make chicken a hundreds different ways... I'm constantly looking up low carb foods on the web and experiment, until I can find what I like. I like making fish with green salsa, red salsa, garlic butter, etc. mashed garlic cauliflower, asparaguas, in butter, cream sauce... I can go on forever.. like I said I love to cook and especially eat, but now I choose healthier choices, with alot of flavor!! We don't have to give up, just adapt. Good luck with your decision.
