Meals and Workouts (Draft stuck)
Hi and thank you this will be very useful for some. I noticed you do not have any fruit, fruit juice or Veggies in your program, Why? Do you take a multi vitamin? The vitamins in FRESH fruits and Veggies are very important to a balanced diet and will help with elimination and are known to help fight cancer. I eat real food like you, Not too much, mostly plants with Proteins first. If anyone has Netflix watch "Food Matters" it is an eye opener I must say. Best wishes imaluckydog

Its that time...My 1st Fill
We as Banders should not be skipping meals!! Try and take care of your nutritional needs everyday. Eat meals 3 times a day with fruit as a snack. Stop grazing it will not help you lose weight if that is why you had the LB. We need to change our old habits. A fill may help it always kicked in about four days later for me and when I was eating at a slow pace after about 4 bites I could not eat any more. I knew I needed to eat more to get the right amount of protein in. My meals got cold and I sat there and waited until I could take another bite. Do not drink with your food either it will push it past the band and you will feel hungry sooner. The needle you will get use to. It was a scary thing at first for sure. After about 6 fills and 3 un -fills not all in that order one does get use to them. I just never liked the poking around part of it. Best wishes imaluckydog

Wish me Happy Birthday!
Hard to believe my Birthday came and went. I had an excellent day at the beach. It was a beautiful sunny warm day and I spent it with family and NOT food. I enjoy my new energy and smaller body. I was able to move around on a boat with ease. This is new for me. I went swimming something I never did. This past year has given me so much to look forward too. I have a new lease on life and I still wake up with a smile on my face everyday. Thanks to my Lap Band and 110 pounds gone forever! Thank you all for the well wishes I feel you are all my family too and I am glad to have such a strong and positively supportive family here. Best wishes imaluckydog

First position
Llyra, Hi I know you can do this!! I hear it in your blog you want it and you want it BAD don't you????!!! Yes, see your DR. Then See the Dietitian or Nutritionist that work with them these people are a team and will help you. I will help you. I too had many sleepless nights. I made more mistakes than anyone I know. I was banded June 29,2009 I just turned 54 yesterday and when I started this journey I was well over 250 pounds and miserable. Today I have lost 110 pounds and it has NOT been easy. Nothing is ever easy for me. I go to the Dietitian once a month I get good tips on what and how to eat. If I may make a suggestion Get OFF SODA of all kinds and OFF SUGAR and ICE CREAM. I had a week or so withdrawal from it, it was like getting off a drug addiction for me. I do not even crave sugar or soda now. Eat REAL food Not to much and mostly plants with PROTEINS first. Do NOT drink with a meal as it pushes the food through and you will not feel full. Your Dr. may suggest you go back to the Bandser RULES. Make a FRESH start of it YOU ARE READY. Just do it. Best wishes imaluckydog

Stress and the band
Hi yes I have had some very stressful life situations that have caused my band to feel more restricted. Well, as my Dr. put it is NOT the Band that is being restricted it is the muscles around the band that are tensing up and making it feel like I got tighter. The band does not change on its own the muscles around the band do. On two separate occasions I need to have Un-fills just a smidge but it helped. Then got fill a few weeks later it is all about adjustment. I even started losing again after the unfill so they do have there advantages. If you are having any acid reflux see you Dr. ASAP. I hope this has helped. Best wishes over 1 year 110 pounds down LB works listen to your body. imaluckydog

Wish me Happy Birthday!
Please Wish Me Happy Birthday! It’s my Birthday and I will do what I want! Sound familiar!! Eat what I want!! I used too eat all I wanted and then some. Now I just eat what I want and what my band will allow and I am very happy with that. Yes the new me has lost 110 pounds and is healthier then I ever imagined thanks to my Lap Band. I am going on a boat to a beach today. I will be wearing a bathing suit OMG. I would never have done this in past weighing in at over 250 pounds, thats just ugly. I am just a little feather now. I love it. I feel small, I look small and I am smaller than most of the people I know. I have never been so HAPPY in all my LIFE. I am living today. I wishes all my band buddies and anyone who may read this to know it has not been easy! Nothing in this life has ever been easy for me. I have done this with the help from all of you and my band. Thanks for being there to help me. Best wishes imaluckydog

Newly Banded Needs Help!
I hope this helps. It sounds like you have an open mind. It will take some time for your body to adjust to what has happened to you. I went into a depression with the loss of my sugar, soda, and carbs I was so sad all the time. I love to eat and I loved to eat tons of food. But my desire to be thin and healthy was strong. How strong is your desire? I even dreamed about eating these foods. I never did eat them. My HEAD was always hungry and it made me crazy. I helped myself by blogging a lot about my feelings and it took up a lot of my time blogging does help. I took long rather slow walks to keep myself moving and in the out doors I would walk neighborhoods and see the sites. It did help to pass the time. It clears the head. Your hunger is very real. You are changing the way you have eaten for many years and it is a drastic change. Let me just say after I did the post op program and stayed off all sugar, all soda, and all carbs, it helped me. It is sort of like a detox if you will. I do not crave these things any more. Takes about 2 to 3 weeks maybe less. I have been banded over a year now and I do eat a small amount of carbs, I have had a soda, and I got into trouble with chocolate just the other day. I am still learning and my journey has been amazing. Give yourself a chance. It is a choice to follow all the rules and do the best that you are able. It is a MIND over food thing. We have very strong willed minds and once we decide to do something we are usually the best at what we do. I am cheering for your good health and the determination it takes to have power over your HEAD (Head Hunger, Bandster Hell). I have made many mistakes and I have still done well with my band. I have had fills and Un fills. I try to follow the rules to the best of my ability everyday. I have lost 110 pounds in this year and today is my birthday. The Band was the best gift I ever gave myself. I am in control today! Not the FOOD!!!! Set your mind in the direction you want to go. Best wishes imaluckydog

Spoke too soon
Hi How are you doing today? I thought about you yesterday. Some people have it harder than others the first couple of days. Who knows why? Sounds like you are taking care of yourself. I hope these hard days will pass quickly for you. Just wait and see how much energy you have a week or so from now. Two weeks after I was banded I was running around Disney World with may daughter. I felt like a fat little kid. Now one year later I am a skinny little kid and she cannot keep up with me. It is amazing what a year will do for you when you have the band to help. Speedy Recovery and Best wishes imaluckydog

Shock & Awe?!
I know I have disordered eating! I know this about myself with and without the band. The band has helped me with this in a better way. I have heard how some people develop eating disorders. Wow, I have heard a lot about this lately. Makes me want to follow the rules and follow them well. Best wishes as I try to stay off the chocolate today. imaluckydog

Just hand over the carbs and nobody will get hurt!
OMG get me off the chocolate binge!! I feel sick. I should know better RIGHT!! If it was plastic and looked like chocolate I would eat it. Today is a new day. I am going to ask myself to fight it one urge at a time and see if I can deal just for today. I may need to take it one minute at a time. I have just planned my meals for the day I hope this helps. I need to zip it and zip it good. Off to the farmers market for REAL FOOD. Best wishes everyone of us with FOOD CRAVINGS for today. imaluckydog

Spoke too soon
Stay clam. Call your Dr. They want to hear from you. You may need to take a liquid fever reducer. Like Liquid Tylenol. Walking is good if you can it will help with the gas and get things moving. I had an eye dropper of liquid every so often. If you get dehydrated you will be more sick so keep liquids going no matter if they come back. If you can lick an SF Popsicle. You may feel not so good for a few days. Congrats and Best wishes and keep posting it will help you feel better. You are in my thoughts. imaluckydog

Need some motivation or advice!!!!!
Hi, I got into the chocolate yesterday and it made me sick. I have been banded for over a year and it was my stinkin thinkin that made me do it. I had extreme heart burn and could not sleep. I do not even want to get on the scale. OMG I have disordered eating and I know I need to get a handle on it. I said to myself this morning the same as you. I am not going to let this get me down from having a super Banderific day!!! I am going back and re reading my rules, I am going to set goals and I am going to continue to play well with my band. I limit myself to 1 fried meal a month and even though I cannot eat much of it I so look forward to it. I need to teach myself how to eat well for healthy living. This tool is helping me and I need to make better choices. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes imaluckydog

I feel rotten
You can do this I know you can!! Hows that? You know what you need to do. Now forgive and move on. This is a new way of life and you will be living your life ASAP. Remember when you get the LB that is when you really need to follow the rules so keep preparing yourself. I was banded June 29 2009, You wait and see what a year can do for you! I am a tiny person now. OMG Best wishes imaluckydog

Back pain
Remember you are healing from the inside out. I was banded a year ago June 29 it took me about a month to feel no pain any where. You have a lot of healing going on inside of you. Remember they have blown your body up with gas to put the band in some of your organs have been moved. Give yourself some time to heal. Walking will help whatever pain you may be feeling. Take a pain med. it will also help. Try to relax and sip water and follow the rules. You will feel better in two months wait a see just how much energy you have. I even have a pull and tug feeling every once in a while and I had my surgery a year ago. I have also lost 109 pounds and wear a size 10 down from a plus 24. Just wait and see what a year will bring you Best wishes imaluckydog
