Its that time...My 1st Fill

I go in tomorrow to have my 1st fill. I had my surgery June 21. I lost about 9 lbs, but I really believed I have gained it back. i don't eat much and I have never been one to eat alot. I am a grazer. If I am in the house all day, I tend to graze the kitchen cabinets or pantry.lol

This is not good. So I am looking forward to getting a fill but I am so afraid of the needle. I hope there is no pain. I hope I get enough that will make me want to skip at least 1 or 2 meals.

I get so hungry at times that I get headaches and stomach cramps. I try not to eat between meals and this is when those problems come in at.

I will let you know how my fill appointment turn out.

Oh, I am having a flouro(I hope I spelled this right) treatment, where they see me drinking the baruim under the xray....

So I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Best of luck! I'm a grazer too, which is why I try to stay out of the house as much as possible! Even with the band and no reasonable food to graze on in the house, I manage to eat stuff in too large of portions, each too many times a day, and turn ordinary pancake mix into something delectable and not on the plan lol.

I've found drinking liquids helps. And sugar free popsicles and jello...........

Best wishes, let us know how it goes!

Aww I am excited for you my first fill is Aug 23rd so I can totally relate on the - scared about the needle- but just think we went thru surgery (cutting and stuff!) you can do it!!! Yea I've lost a total of 16 pds since surgery on July 13th but I am worried when I start mushies and solids in 2-4 weeks before my fill I'll gain it back so I am really watching everything I put in my mouth! Did your Dr. say if he put any saline in the band when he did the procedure?! Well good luck!

My surger was also on 6/21 and I am scheduled for my first fill on Thurs. I am not sure if I am going to have it though. I think I might wait a week. I am not over eating, I am not hungry in between meals and I'm consistently losing. Please let us know how it went. Don't be afraid of the needle, my friend had been banded a year ago and she said it feels as if you were giving blood - nothing more. And, don't skip meals. You don't want to become anemic.

don't be afraid of the needle! really! it's ok! you will hardly even know you are being poked! I was terrified when I had my first fill, and that nervousness was for nothing! Best wishes on this journey!

We as Banders should not be skipping meals!! Try and take care of your nutritional needs everyday. Eat meals 3 times a day with fruit as a snack. Stop grazing it will not help you lose weight if that is why you had the LB. We need to change our old habits. A fill may help it always kicked in about four days later for me and when I was eating at a slow pace after about 4 bites I could not eat any more. I knew I needed to eat more to get the right amount of protein in. My meals got cold and I sat there and waited until I could take another bite. Do not drink with your food either it will push it past the band and you will feel hungry sooner. The needle you will get use to. It was a scary thing at first for sure. After about 6 fills and 3 un -fills not all in that order one does get use to them. I just never liked the poking around part of it. Best wishes imaluckydog

I had no saline added...on my follow up appointment he did tell me I could eat a couple of crackers to hold me over until my next meal...lol. but now saline was added.

I will let you know how it goes.
