  1. Good Monday morning my people. I think I'm going to shoot for running 5 days instead of 3. I need to burn more calories.
  2. MYOB, is about all I can say. Worry about yourself and other people will come to you if they need your opinions.
  3. Not pregnant, but congratulations!!!!
  4. I love all the exercise mojo! I'm thinking about joining the gym I used to belong to so I can catch a class or two a week. My schedule is such that I can't do something regular... Anyway, Spinning is supposed to be fantasic for carido and for keeping your biking legs in the cold weather.

  6. I've lost over 100 pounds in 11 months. That's a hair over 2 pounds a week...I've had long plateaus. I've dropped quickly at times too. But that's a decent rate if you ask me. Think about how committed you are to living healthier. If you believe you can eat well and exercise then the band will help you. If you don't think you can control what you eat nor want to exercise than go with GB, because regardless of how you eat or inert you are with that you will lose weight. With the lapband, you need to do your part. Are you up for it?
  7. My surgeon pushed for GB, he said that he can better control the out come of his patient's success if they do that GB and not Lapband. The man has an ego. But on the other hand, he calls me his rock star and said I'm the perfect personality type for the lapband, after the fact. He still contends that 90% of people who need WLS will do better with GB than lapband.
  8. B Sounds like you're a man in love with your new toy! Good for you...I'm so jealous. BG My new personal hero. You ran 6 miles?! I'm soooooooooo impressed. That's quite a feat! You've got to tell us how many calories the BB said you burned! Xo
  9. Get thee to a gym and put some weights in your hands. Anything with your core, over head, pec flyes, push ups, pull ups, rows, lats will all work your back as well as the other pieces of your body. Cardio is great for weight loss but strength training will change the shape of your body under your fat and when your fat melts off or when your skin gets surgecally removed, you'll have that super star shape. If you are already working out, get someone who knows what they're talking about to up your routine.
  10. One square of dark chocolate in is about 55 calories. I'm talking about hershey's or gheridelli in the little bag.. (forgive the spelling error, but I don't want to look it up.) I know that's vague, but I had a period where I was eating a square every night. Just one and it was delightful. It kept me from eating other junk during the day too, knowing I had some good chocolate at home.
  11. Just to underscore BG's point. When we met in August, my GF saw her and said, "why'd she get the band, she's small." or something to that... I said, "well she got banded in February, and that's the point. Stacy's lost weight. " The next thing I know I tell Stacy and she's all over Alison...lol. Really, as I recall Stacy, you grinned! And said you've not been called small... But girl you're speaking the truth. When you contrast our past with our now or even our futures, people are so used to us taking up a certain kind of space. Seeing us in a different light, and sometime seeing ourselves differently, is really hard. Things to think on.
  12. B just got snipped. Can you find an illustration for that?
  13. I'm starting to hear people question me about my goal weight. When I say 130 people bigger than me, like taller, go ooh, ick. Now two women I work with, one of whom I call my skinny body twin...we are the same size and shape, and I got to talking yesterday. The twin is a size 4. They are both short. I said I want to fall between 120 and 130, which won't happen until after plastic surgery...they both said, under a size 4 be careful about looking guant...but they were so "that's the range we live in". So I feel it's on target. Now if someone put real pressure on me about my potential size, I just tell them that they need to keep their opinions to themselves. It's my body, my weight and until my doctor or I think otherwise there's no issue. Really more to my character would be, "You don't think you're allowed an opinion about that do you?" But I'm queer and really don't give a shit about what men might think or say in regard to my appeal...women tend to tread more carefully in those areas.
  14. D, These are lyrics to "Hate on Me" about those damn ass people who just ask for more, say what you give isn't enough, and find fault in what you do to make your world better. I love Jill Scott. I love this song, it's great to work out to and it makes me think, "fuck y'all, no really, hate me if you want, but I'm doing right by me." And don't let small minded in laws define who you are what success mean to you. Lyrics: Jill Scott - Hate On Me lyrics If I could give you the world On a silver platter Would it even matter? You'd still be mad at me If I could find in all this A dozen roses Which I would give to you You'd still be miserable In reality, I'm gon' be who I be And I don't feel no faults For all the lies that you bought You can try as you may Break me down but I say That it ain't up to you Gone and do what you do (Chorus) Hate on me, hater Now or later 'Cuz I'm gonna do me You'll be mad, baby (Go 'head and hate) Go 'head and hate on me, hate on 'Cuz I'm not afraid of it What I got I paid for You can hate on me Ooh, if I gave you peaches Out of my own garden And I made you a peach pie [ Hate On Me lyrics found on Complete Album Lyrics ] Would you slap me high What if I gave you diamonds Out of my own womb Would you feel the love in that, Or ask "why not the moon"? If I gave you sanity For the whole of humanity, Had all the solutions For the pain and pollution No matter where I live, Despite the things I give, You'll always be this way So go 'head and.... (Chorus) Hate on me, hater Now or later 'Cuz I'm gonna do me You'll be mad, baby (Go 'head and hate) Go 'head and hate on me, hate on 'Cuz I'm not afraid of it What I got I paid for You can hate on me You cannot hate on me 'Cuz my mind is free Feel my destiny So shall it be
  15. I agree. I agree. Talking about exercise, yesterday for my 30 minute run walk, I did one 5 minute chunk and two 6 minute chunks with walking in between. Only 3 weeks ago could I run 3 minutes and I was sucking wind. Yesterday I told myself to not push it. I could have run longer pieces but I didn't want to hurt my body. Who the hell knew I had this in me? A year ago I'd not have walked faster if a car was heading toward me.....
  16. demsv, You are nearly one year smoke free! Look at you. How's your restriction these days?
  17. I guess when I'm approached by people with that OHMYGOD, I've got so much to lose where do I start attitude, I tell them to start by writing down what they eat. No judgements, just know REALLY what you are sticking in your mouth. The assumption is that once you know, you freak out and take control. I agree that exercise is king, you can't get fit or lose continuously with out it, but there are people out there with the band or GB who lose like gang busters without exercise. Wouldn't want to be them, but it happens. Just thinking out loud.
  18. I'm the cafeteria manager. Yeah, a lunch lady. I'm in school to get my BS and MBA, so I can get away from where food is being served. Thanks for the props on the weight loss. I feel pretty lucky to be able to lose as well as I have.
  19. I'm 5'2'' weigh around 211 and I'm wearing size 20. I know I could get into tight 18's...I'm wear XL tops too. My highest known weight was 338 about 6 years ago. I was bursting out of 32's. and 4XLs.
  20. I get coworkers giving me props all the time...but yesterday was the best one yet. I work at the state Deaf school. A high school boy who was hit by some real personal tragedy this year (brother committed suicide) has been walking around with his head bowed and really not communicating much. Well, yesterday he stopped me when no one was looking to say, "Noticed you've lost a lot weight, you look really great." I said, "Wow, thanks. I've been working hard." He said, "Great job" and "keep it up!” I got a huge smile from him too. You know most kids are pretty self absorbed. I’ve had one chubby girl ask me what I was doing. I’ve had one sweetheart girl give me a huge hug and wow. I’ve had two gay boys, essentially say, “look at you!” But this boy has more reason than most not to be bothered with adults like me...so it just took me by surprise. His encouragement was so meaningful too. I’m really awestruck at how much people around me are cheering me on. And really there are some great kids out there, don't you think?
  21. Hi my Marchies. I got a fill last week Friday (my second one too, Mrs.H.) and it really has me very aware of what I eat and how I eat. I love that this band is adjustable and it is for life, to underscore Rosi's point. I was shooting for 199 by January 1st but I had an extended plateau so I'm adjusting to just doing well between here and there. Oh, and Mrs. H, I was noticed too. And this boy has more reason than most to be...so it just took me by surprise. His encouragement was so meaningful too. Makes me feel really good.
  22. I know what you say about the bodybugg at the end of the day. What good is it then? Well what I did was go, damn, you don't burn anything aside from when you work out. You need to add more incidental steps to your day. I set up a reminder featcher on it to buzz at 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 2:30 to tell me to get up and move. So I do and overall I've added more burned calories to my life. Perhaps something to consider. You can look at your slacker pattern and try to change it up... Also, logging food anywhere, on a napkin or on the computer is key in being mindful. I don't care what anyone says. That is the single most important factor in long term weight loss, IMHO. So woo hoo to you for setting some new goals. You rock.
  23. Well, BG and B...dropping the pounds and moving the ticker... You are rocking. I'm changing mine too. I'm taking one of the two pounds yesterday gave me. B, are you using your BodyBugg still? I never quit eventhough I was pissed with it, but I'm really getting vested in it again....tracking what I eat ect. TX, I see me getting some speedplays asap when the snow melts. BG, we are going to have to do some riding in Toledo in the spring. Maybe we can get the kids together in Sandusky at the indoor water park in January. I'd love to see you guys.
