Did anyone else see last night where the designers were making clothing for woman who had lost significant amounts of weight? They had to take their old large favorite piece of clothing and create something new that the women would love. It was awesome. I got to thinking though, I've pitched, donated, or gave away EVERY thing I used to own aside from one pair of jeans. Of course I wonderd who had WLS, who didn't and what kind was it... Very cool indeed.
  2. Laura, Thank for the link. You have a very tender heart.
  3. I've always wanted to go to Texas. Meeting you all would make for an excellent reason to travel. How long would it take to drive from Detroit to Fort Worth? BG, are you down for a road trip?
  4. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ Aren't you too cute?! I love when you can fix cake accidents with extra fluffy stuff. The ice pics are Beautiful!
  5. Triple "awe shucks", Mrs. H! I'll tell you what...there are days like today where I'm uplifted by the people on this board. My body aches and I'm not making the best food choices.... But coming here gets me some perspective. This is such a shared journey. Thank you so much for your kind words.
  6. I want to eat some burnt chicken... Okay, maybe some oatmeal. Hungry.................
  7. BG, What a fantastic way to brighten my morning. It's hard to remember you being a newbie biker, not wanting to wear a helmet. But I remember reading that post one July morning and cracking up! Jenn, it's so good to see you here. How are you feeling? Did you get a two letter nickname? I can't remember. D, School is nearly out. I've got books and projects all lined up to keep me occupied during my free time. Of course Christmas planning will keep me busy for the next week and half, but after that I'll be able to do what I want to do!!! I don't see me getting my Secret Santa in the mail before Friday, if I'm lucky...I'll try my best.
  8. OMG, that's funny. Did you find the posts where BG flipped on her bike with an audiance? That was priceless. Of course she was fine...or where she later threw her bike in a fit of rage? HP, we miss you and your pictures. Hope you are well.
  9. 1. I want to be that smart, funny, pretty woman that I am without the added, "despite being fat." 2. I want to run long distances and bike even longer ones. 3. I want to make more money. 4. I want my daughter to hold me on her lap when she's older, like I hold her now. 5. I want to ride roller coasters. 6. I want to travel to other countries and not be seen as the typical obese American. 7. I want to control my future, not let eating control it.
  10. Marianne, I too did what you did. My pup always needed to go out in the middle of the night. I found that to be a prime time to eat the left overs from dinner or what ever else I could down in the time is would take her to pee. I was fully awake and aware of my night eating. I would wrestle with myself and consider it a success if I got back to bed without eating. After being banded it stopped for the most part, unless I was stupid hungry. I'd then just eat some fat free cheese or something and count it. Just this past September I had to put my dog to sleep, so the issue is mute...I sleep through the night without temptation. I do miss my pup though.
  11. ZZ. We decorated gingerbread houses tonight with some friends. The holidays wreck havoc on good intentions. Bastard holidays! Lisa, hi and welcome. Neveragain, like BG said, get on at least 4 different bikes and talk to the folks at the LBS. What part of the country do you live in? In the north you can get some sweet deals this time of year due to the weather. If you are a glutton for punishment you can go back around page 100 and find some good more specific advice. XO everyone.
  12. Bike on indeed. That's a fantastic turn around. You da' man. Woot Woot!
  13. Awe hell, I feel like Ohio is freaking tropical compared. I'm running outside today. It's wet but about 40 degrees. Mind you we should get some snow this weekend...but it really doesn't stick around until the end of January/February. Tomorrow is the last bit of school I have until January 28th...do you know how happy that makes me????
  14. Awe shucks. I started pretty high. Not that I'm not proud...I was happy as could be to see the 100+ in less than a year, but now I need to focus on the what's left to lose. Actually there's been a shift in my thinking from counting pounds lost to really working on what's left to accomplish. The band is a fantastic tool!
  15. I have Running for Women too. I'll have to check out more books.
  16. ZZ, Bitch, get your ass in gear! Get moving. Don't make me come get you. How are you going to Goddess your way into spring if you sit on your ass on winter. Hup, hup...get a move on. Hugs and Kisses.
  17. Good luck. I thought there'd be better turn out for the January Vegas thing and there just isn't. I know you have a different vision and that's fantastic...but if I had to speculate on why responses are low it is because people get caught up in daily living after having the band a few months and just aren't inclined to do a big in depth event. I know GBers are very into creating networks and socializing. Are banded people just more independent?
  18. Good luck with the Boobwork too! I was wondering about the girls and what you were going to do. Like I have any real business wondering about your boobies, but you know, curiosity is what it is. Thanks for your candor.
  19. Mrs H- You will do it!!!!!!! Great Job with the weight loss!
  20. I'm going to cycle a century (100 miles) before May. I'm running my first 5K in February. In August I have a MuddyBuddy event with a Babygirl 2007 Muddy Buddy Ride & Run in Chicago. After that I have no idea what I will do/train for. But that's enough for now.
  21. BG, You're amazing. Of course I've been trying to keep up with you...I've agreed to the Muddy Buddy and everything, but there's no tri atha nothing in my future. I will however, be your cheerleader!!!! I like the idea of running long...and tomorrow is my outside day, so it's always easier to run longer outside...it's not nearly as boring. I'm trying to get one outside run per week right now. There will be more as we get closer to February 17th.
  22. Dorr, Thanks for posting your picture. You'll do really well with the procedure.
  23. So, wait, you're saying just run longer on the days I run? I think I can do that. I mean right now the goal is to lengthen the time I'm running. The cardio-calestenic (sp?!) days I burn fewer calories so was thinking I need to add more to those days. But perhaps I should just get my ass on the elyptical trainer for a piece of time on those days? I love that you are well read...it saves me from having to read. Keep giving me advice. I appreciate it.
  24. Well right now I run 3 days and do the cardio/calestenic thing 3 days. When I run, I'm on the treadmill for 30 minutes, I run for 3 6 minutes chunks and walk otherwise. I'm working toward running the whole 30 minutes. I just want to burn more calories... I want my bike, sniff....boo hoo....(pouting and foot stomping)
